Anyone else addicted to it?I ain't seen anything else on it here... but in my opinion it's the best ever TV show in the history of TV shows! There were good moments, great moments, and some rather iffy moments... But overall it was amazing!!! The characters were great, storylines interesting and it was so different to anything else at the time... Intelligent yet witty. So, anyone else LOVE it?xoxoxox By the way, i realise it ended years ago... But i still Love it!!!

I love Buffy, and really need to schedule some time to sit down and watch a good few episodes and remind myself why it's a good show, because the comics and Joss Whedon's general attitude of late - particularly over Dollhouse, which I'm becoming increasingly wary of as time goes on - have been turning me off him and his work for the last wee while.
The musical episode is the one people tend to remember - that and 'Hush' (the 'silent' episode), 'The Body' (the one where Buffy's Mum dies), etc. - but there are some really nice arc-y episodes in there, especially in series five: I love Glory, she's so ridiculously brilliant.
Also, I love Anya episodes. She's hilarious. And because she's hilarious, when she's sad it's really, really sad.
Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Surely one precurses the other? Not necessarily I love Buffy. Spike is great and I still have a Giles-crush. It's one of those shows that people who think they're cool dismiss as silly but there are loads of serious, academic books written about it. Joss Whedon knew what he was doing. His moral compass can be a little simplistic at times, but I like how he actively responded to actual fan views about the show and allowed that extra ambiguity. Spike as hero/sex symbol winning out over the hideously bland Riley, is something that wouldn't have happened if he had just followed his own beliefs on that. James Marsters takes a lot of credit for taking Spike in that direction.

Basically my Halloween costume for tonight was simply a sticky tag with GOD written on (same as last year). I was told while ordering a drink that someone did the same thing on Buffy? Massive coincidence or osmosis? haha.

Massive coincidence or osmosis? haha. Osmosis! Because the guy on Buffy the same costume was called Oz, right? Played by Seth Green and beloved by the kind of fat girls with washed-out pink hair who get all starry-eyed over woobie Spike, despite his not having any character whatsoever and being entirely unecessary until the episode in which he turns up after an extended absense, finds out his girlfriend is a big fat lesbian and leaves... Also, in the same episode, Willow is dressed as Joan of Arc. They totally make a 'close relationship with God' joke. It is so, so awesome. Also, Zach from Power Rangers is in it as a frat boy, and gets recast in the middle of the episode. I could talk shit about Buffy all day, it's mega. Also, I'm kind of drunk. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

On the plus side, the girl who mentioned it was quite fit and looked impressed, then ranted about her love of Buffy.

God how I wish (along with squillions of others) they would make another movie. Keeping my fingers crossed. And excuse me? Buffy Season 8 comics are absolutely brilliant. A great continuation from where the series ended. Buffy lesbian moment unexpected and hilarious.

Is there a good jumping on point for Buffy? I catch the odd episode here and there (generally out of sequence) and I haven't got into it yet, despite it embodying and pioneering a lot of the things I love about TV.
Not sure I can find the time to watch from episode 1, I'm familiar with the concept and the characters, is there a specific season or block of episodes where it gets particularly awesome? Might be next on my "to watch" list after I've finished Battlestar Galactica.

Might be next on my "to watch" list after I've finished Battlestar Galactica. I came at it from series six, and worked backwards, so it's no undoable, but I'd say series four would be a good jumping on point: series three is for the good, too, but series four is when they sort of fiddled with the format a bit, and there's so much brilliant ground work done during the series. The season finale is told through a series of dreams. There's a bit where Buffy's Mum lives in a wall at her old high school. And also Amber Benson in a really ill-advised outfit. Just skip over 'Beer Bad' and you'll be grand. And then series five, and them taking a good five episodes to say anything about Dawn and who the hell she is, and it being brilliant. And Glory. Please watch this show. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

This show IS daftly addictive.
The episode "Amends" where Angel is gonna kill himself, then it miraculously snows? I think I broke my formidable personal best in sappiness by getting a wee bit teary for a second there..
Also, I like Faith, and must confess I find the show's titular character somewhat irksome, which is a bit like being a Who fan who thinks The Doctor is a nobber..

I disliked Buffy herself for quite a few years and was definitely more interested in Faith although I'm sure that was, in part, lust. There are some very clever episodes. I recently got the big boxset and, I must say, those earlier seasons are not as good as I remember them.

I wouldn't say no to either if I'm honest. Though Geller is one of those lasses who sometimes I see and I'm like "way-hey" and sometimes.. totally cold. Get the same vibe with Claire in Heroes.

I still get the low-down tickle for both Faith ans Spike and, ocassionally Giles. The Gentlemen still weird me out and bad Willow was worth a watch. Oh, and Once More with Feeling- I just can't help it.

Does that mean you're liking it? Season 7 is one of my favorites. I thought it was the one season that was consistently great.

Buffy (brandishing a crossbow)- "get back or I'll pull a William Burroughs on your leader here" *pause* Xander- "what? Bore him to death with free prose?" Buffy- "was I the only one paying attention in English that day?.... I'll kill him.'
So in love with this bit of dialogue I want to have its babies.
