I'm so upset Skins has stolen Josh. Hahaha I only said I "quite like" it. Rest assured I'm pretty much unlikely to be attending any Skins parties or writing any Skins slash anytime soon.. This just proves I'll watch any old shite as long as I fancy someone in it, really..

Whooo, I love how I always get into shows and stuff so late after everyone else so I helpfully always know whats going to happen. Surprises are over-rated! If only someone had tried to persuade you to watch it when it was on television, eh...

I didn't even start watching new Doctor Who until two years into it's run, I think I am literally two years behind the world. I'm living on a different time scale. Like a plant. A weed perhaps?

I liked about two episodes of series one of Skins but did actually think that the second was alright and less wanky.

Wow Josh, she's a fucking idiot. Wait until the end of the second series. Huh? What did she do that was so bad at the end of the series? I watched pretty much all of series 2 over like.. two days (I know, I know..) and I personally enjoyed the darker take on Cassie. I mean she's severely mentally ill, and I think moving her on from being the "cute and fluffy mentalist" made her more 3D. Lets face it people of a severely depressive bent can often be (in my experience) self-obsessed, childish and ultimately cruel to those around them. The characterization rang true to me and I left the series ultimately still liking and empathizing with her, perhaps more so by the introduction of those flaws.. she's really excellently acted. Ha, I can't believe I like this show so much, I'm looking forward to the next series, Effy is good as well. C'mon the show is 90% pain and angst, 10% drugs and shagging in reality. I do like me some pain and angst with a little sentimentalism stirred in.. FLIP-FLOP!

I have James Brittain on my twitter and he's confirmed there IS going to be an American version of Skins. I know that probably means a remake etc but I hope against hope this will mean I'll get Cassie/Sid back in some form or another. The motley crew of thinly characterised non-entities that made up the new cast just make me miss them more (other than Cook obviously, he was fucking epic). Ha I haven't learnt anything from my crushing disappointment when all the "Hannah Murray is the new Doctor Who companion!" rumours were debunked or indeed.. got a life. haha,
Had Skins on my mind lately cos its lead to some serious bonding with a certain member of this very forum lately, re-watching the first two series and there as heart breaking and lovely as I remember. Shame the show decided to actually live up to all the misconceived notions people had about it (ha this old thread is almost a glossary of them.. ha mainly from me!) in the third series.

I wonder if there will be as much sex and drugs in the American one, considering we're all terrified of sex and drugs. Doubt it will be about Cassie and Sid but I certainly hope they will have an episode or ten to themselves... or at least a cameo. Like how Whatshisface got Sid's locker in series 3. That was possibly Freddie but I don't actually pay enough attention to him to remember. It'll be interesting to observe the differences between cultures, particularly if it's a totally new cast... I'll be very disappointed if every single character is amazingly good-looking.

Wasn't impressed by the episode the other day, possibly because Thomas isn't a very interesting character. Also, I was confused and thought it was Effy who killed herself, and was like "yes! that's so brave! omg!" until I realised it wasn't. Such a letdown. Hopefully it'll start improving soon.

Sibz posted, and so my last post was pointless.
I really love Thomas as a character, so I liked the new episode. I think a lot of people thought it wasn't wild enough. I really hope that something interesting has been happening to Effy while she's been away - the Effy/Freddy/Cook storylike seriously needs jazzing up.

I think it's just Freddie that needs jazzing up.
Also, Sibz, I thought it was Effy too... and I thought the rest of the episode/series was going to tell the story of what lead to her killing herself. Huh.

Effy not dying IS a bit of a letdown, but not of much as a letdown as Freddie not dying. Though I reckon Captain Charisma could make even plummeting to his death in a crowded rave appear boring somehow. I'm an UNPLEASABLE FAN I always stick with shows that moved me at one point, even after I've stopped liking them (see also.. Heroes).. so after moaning about how series 3 was too broad and cartoonish, they go and give me a much more mature start to series 4 and I moan that it's slow and boring. They can't win. Also, what a load of cynical try hard bollocks the early pages of this thread are. Especially coming from this "stationtostation" person. Twat. I LOVE YOU COOKIE, no one understands you, but I DO.

I'd like to add I don't really wish Effy dead.. it just fitted my "hilarious" quip. Though they did butcher her character in S3.
Also Thomas is a genius idea for a character. The hedonistic, decadent middle class teenie life shown though the eyes of someone from another culture, a third world culture at that.

I quite liked it! I was a bit shocked, I was expecting more 'omggg we're such uncouth youths with a rebel outlook on life, rawk on!!!1!' crap, but it was alright. I still dislike the acting though, Thomas' brother literally made me laugh out loud with shitness, and the twins' and Pandora's voices make me want to die. But still. I was a bit confused the whole way through about what was going on in Thomas' life, but i'm sure there'll be more clarity soon. Looking forward to the rest of the series

Not really having anything to add about the episode itself, but in the church the bassist from Easy Star All Stars was playing bass (I'm 90% sure) and that was AWESOME. As was Grizzly Bear at the end.
