I loved the Spice Girls so much when I was younger. I think I still have one of their CDs floating about somewhere..
Spice World was the BEST. I love that movie. I want to watch it again.
This is kind of funny, as last night I was reading on ONTD about how they are going to have things to enhance their voices during their concerts. Or something. I wasn't entirely sure on the specifics.

i completely missed the spice girls and it totally sucks cause THEY NEVER LEAVE, like they were big when i was in like 3rd/5th gradeish but i was totally in my own world then and sort of towards the end of their reign i understood what they were but essentially missed it and when they broke up i thought alright no more spice girls BUT I WAS WRONG cause in middle school, their songs were played at ALL the dances and the whole gym floor broke out in ironical (but secretly not really) dancing and singing and then again in high school when you have Embarassing Dance Parties, spice girls (along with all those boy bands who again, regretably, i missed out on, and i think i really do regret this) always make the mix and everyones singing along and i know none of the words so i'll just sing woody gunthrie songs in my head or something and pretend i had the normal pop culture upbringing. and now they're back, jesusfuck.

I was 16 in 1996 and was babysitting for kids who were dressing up as the Spices. OLD! But I still loved them, yo.

I was dressing up as the Spice Girls too, with four friends. I was always Geri. I used to color my eye lids with an orange lip pen 'cos I thought it was what the older girls called "eye shadow".

I remember liking one of their songs for about a week or something. I listened to almost nothing but punk and metal at that age, so I felt guilty for liking even that one song.

Oh, I really don't care about this at all. Never liked them as a child, certainly will not like them now. Anyway everyone knows it's been in the pipeline for a good year and a half so it's no surprise.
I enjoyed the picture of Posh looking like a dominatrix Barbie doll in all the shots of the group together. Particularly what Go Fug Yourself had to say.

Stop is probably the Spice Girls best song. It's as good a sixties girl group pastiche as the Pipettes have manged. So yeah I take it back they had at least one half decent song.

It's so weird seeing pictures of them. Though! Sporty Spice looks amazing. Also, I've gone and downloaded (legally) their CDs, and I have not forgotten the words. This is awesome. I feel 12 again.

C'mon this just like Take That all over again.
Another revisionist nostalgia fest. I was old enough to know better when the Spice Girls roamed the earth the first time and they just weren't musically very good. Though there message of "you don't need men to make you happy" and female friendship and solidarity is much preferable to Girls Aloud's personality void glorified Page 3 girls or the airbrushed slappers of American R'n'B pop.
But really, Mama, I haven to say nothing else just Mama, the single most repugnant single in pops history. Even if the rest of their back cataloge was pure gold, they would still burn in the fiery pits of Pop Hell for that one.
Also in a post-Neptunes/Timberland/Xenomania world The Spice Girls music sounds almost laughably dated.
In short. The Spice Girls= Good popstars, shame about the songs. Girls Aloud= Good songs, shame about the people singing them.

The world has reached a new level of awfulness. When I was young, I was oblivious to the world of music. But even then, I looked at them, heard them, and thought, "Good grief; what a load of total and utter bollocks".
And I still stand by that estimation.

Yeah they're picking random people so 'it's fair'. Why are they only doing one date in London though, thats pretty annoying.

I'm glad that everyone's shared this experience. I was always forced to be Posh. I hate Posh. Josh, Girls Aloud is better when sung by Arctic Monkeys...
