I think she's .... interesting. I can't really love her to the maximum...but I can't hate her either.

There's a Lady Gaga thread? 0_o WHY DID NO-ONE TELL ME!!!
Lol, I am currently known as 'the one obsessed with Lady Gaga' which is definitely an exaggeration because I'm just the only person I know who DOES like Lady Gaga. I don't actually own her CD, just random tracks, so I can't be that obsessed, can I? There's quite a lot of disinterest/bordeline dislike, but I'm slowly finding other people who do like her. I would have loved to go to the 'Monster Ball', I adore her outfits, and my costume for a party this weekend is Gaga-inspired XD. I like how she's pop, but just not...normal. Plus it's just great music to dance to!

Oh wow. Just saw the new video. LOVE the telephone hat. And the diet coke in her hair as curlers. The whole things is really weird and I'm not a fan of the prison scenes, but I think it's genius. Though I noticed some brands in the clip and it kinda bothers me because it doesn't look as unreal as it's supposed to with those brands in there...

Fred Butler! She designs quite a bit for Patrick as well. I couldn't take my eyes off the video when I was watching it! It actually made me like Beyonce a little bit, too. The cigarette glasses, the dancing, the costumes...

i LOL'd at that.
I'm warming to GaGa, against my will. Actually, warming isn't the word. Succumbing. I'm succumbing to GaGa. I love the song Telephone and the video is, as loathed as I am to admit it, fucking awesome.
I think reading interviews and sort of learning the aims of what she's doing has made me like her more. I thought she was being outrageous just for the sake of media adoration. Whilst this IS what she's doing, it for unselfish reasons, I think.

Yeah I'm warming to her too. Her music isn't really my thing but she's definitely interesting and I'm glad she gets to the top of the charts as she does something different to other musicians. I actually find Beyonce really interesting too because she plays with characters and identities and I love that.
I thought the video was a great thing to do, it did seem a bit like it was trying to be 'Kill Bill' (I don't really like that film) but maybe it's just because of the style and subject, hard to make it not seem that way.

I loved the cigarette sunglasses, but I imagine having lit cigarettes near one's eyes must have stung.

I would be very nervous if I was to kiss someone wearing cigarette sunglasses.

The Telephone video made me laugh, and I like that she's pushing things even further, but I don't really feel compelled to watch it over and over like I did with Bad Romance - that was the definition of a perfect music video. Still good, though. The Kill Bill Pussy Wagon did make me happy.

Welll....I'm still undecided over Lady Gaga. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the telephone video...in fact, I love all her videos. I think the people that work for her are absolutely spectacular. Since I found out that she's a damn good pianist I gained a lot more respect for her...also, I HATED her mostly when she first went on Johnathan Ross because to be honest, I think he's a national treasure and I don't care that he's a dick, SHE SHOULD BE NICE TO HIM. But then when she went on again she said a lot of things that made me think 'holy fuck she's me' and that made me slightly nervous. I like the Telephone video a hell of a lot more after my friend showed me this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kud17cXaajowhich just made me think FFS AMERICA WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU and made me angry at society and made me love Lady Gaga and all lesbians everywhere, because me and her and them are clearly all alone. Errr...so the only thing I have against Lady Gaga is her pop career. I think my issue is that I want her for the underground world, I like what she does but I don't really like how she did it, if you see what I mean. It's very narrow minded and stupid but I don't like being in the same category as a lot of young people who don't get what she says she's about. Lady Gaga...it's a difficult topic.

^^Geez the video made me so mad, "OMG THERE ARE LESBIANS!!", that's like the FIRST thing that woman said. I mean, she only talked about the mass murder after lesbians, as if being a lesbian was worse than killing everyone with no purpose?!. WTF.
I think the video was pretty vulgar and I just hated the beginning, but not because of lesbians, because I don't see the point of showing her butt, and I don't see the point of just killing everyone in the restaurant for fun. And I felt like the parts where she just shows off her body are random and pointless. Even though I said that, I would just like to say, I hope she'll never get breast implants. She already lost a lot of weight (the first thing I noticed while watching Poker Face was her thighs, and she was so tanned, now they are gone and she's really pale :/) and it shocked me.
And that woman just criticizes her, as if she were the only person having shocking behaviour... Because Lady Gaga is a woman, it's easier to criticize her than criticize some rapper who's talking about sex. I mean the song isn't even about sex, it's just about some girl not answering the phone because a guy's pissing her off WTF. Madonna's showed her butt, Britney Spears has, she wears no panties when she goes outside! If Lady Gaga had been kissed by a guy, that woman wouldn't have criticized would she? And why does she find it so offending for Lady Gaga to say she doesn't have a penis (well for it to be mentioned she didn't have one)? There are rumours, it's her own comical way to respond.

I like her a lot a lot a lot. Her songs are catchy, I like how deep her voice is, I like her brashness and humour, and I just love the amount of effort and style she puts into every look. I like how she's from a really clever background but doesn't bang on about it every interview and is happy to say the dirty soundbites that generate such a media circus, I think it's daring. I found this also on another website, thought it was interesting. onlywordstoplaywith.blogspot.com/2010/03/lady-gagas-telephone-observations-and.htmlI don't know if it's supposed to be a parody of how she (and perhaps others) will defend to the death possibly non-existent meanings in her work, but spending all day at uni reading stuff like this I'm inclined to go along with it anyway. re the backlash video...godddd. Could Sandi even see it through that rigid layer of Botox? And why shouldn't 'we be discussing or even thinking about it'? This is what I genuinely do not understand, it's mad. Do people not have minds of their own? Tbh I find it hard to believe what finally pushes a would-be sexual predator over the edge is one of these videos, and if it does, well then anything could have, we might as well all just stay indoors and read the bible or something. And I hate how articulate the interviewer is. 'I had to not pretend that it didn't exist, I had to confront it head-on with my son', yeah that really supports what she said three minutes ago about not even discussing it. Ah I'm slightly wound up now. We all grew up on Spice Girls, running around the playground singing 'Be a little bit wiser baby, put it on, put it on, cos tonight is the night when two become one' and all these other references that we didn't understand, and I don't think we've come off any worse for it. Why should visual suggestiveness be any different? People forget that at that age they aren't thinking 'omg sex' they're still thinking 'eww girls, yay tanks and guns'.

I bought tickets to her show today. I'm excited! I haven't been to a proper big-production-pop-show since the 90s!
