some people will never be happy ... x x this is true. and it's not like patrick does all of this stuff in the hopes that he will please every single fan he's got. he just does it because he wants to and if he gains or loses fans so be it.

Exactly. I love him for his spontaneity & the fact that whatever he does, I seem to love it ! He's like a magician, ha ha. & it's undeniable that the video was SEXY. xxx

Mmm...who I see here is the same Mr Wolf of the past 3 albums...someone who is brave enough to follow his own ideas and istinct without compromising.I don't understand why people are *so* worried.Because of this video? But it's only a video! How can you say that the old Patrick is gone without even listening to the entire album?Let's wait and see. We should have more respect for his work He hasn't to conform to his fans tastes, and if I understood the character just a little,he will never do,as it's right.I don't wanna say that I love everything he does...but I love and respect the fact that he does only what he wants. And sorry for my bad English. xD

Settle down die hards. No ones saying he's loosing fans. Some of us are just a little rattled. One thing we can all agree on is we're all still excited for the release of the bachelor..especially those of us who gave bandstocks.

i see the overt sexuality of the video as a pisstake on hollywood, the society and attitudes.. This is what I though too. Which is why I don't think it was meant to actually be "sexy" - it's sort of in a weird way meant to be "trashy". But not trashy as in LOOK AT ME JIGGLE MY BOOBS ALL OVER trashy, trashy as in like... well like you said, pisstake trashy. Am I making sense? Also, I was wondering about the whole quiffed character in front of the wall - is that supposed to represent the sort of Hollywood persona?

The quiffed character (is that what we're calling it?) seemed to me like the over-the-top stage theatrical performer with the hand gestures and etc... so that's what I was thinking too.

These last few explanations have been fantastic. I don't think many people saw it that way. I know I certainly didn't. I guess his coming out with a new album all on his own has had everyone guessing and we have been in the dark for a while. The explanation of his portrayal of hollywood...I definitely see it now

I've only been away a day and already i have missed alot!
In response to some people, i agree that the video does look rather un-polished. It reminds me of the sorts of films i make at college (im a media student) where nothing can ever be perfect because you don't have a huge budget or the technical equipment they use in the business, and often an idea can be the most fantastic thing on this earth, but making it things just dont end up looking all that professional simply because the resources are not there. (however, i would just like to point out that the bondage stuff would never be allowed, although i have been known to make some controversial things, mainly involving lesbians, but thats for another time).
I feel like after the whole Magic Position era, where he had a huge budget, some people were expecting a video like TMP, where its more perfect and less arty (if you know what i mean), and i can totally understand that a small budget really hinders a production, however, i feel that he has made something which is decent enough and still sticks to what he creativly intended, because as we know he wouldnt set something free in the world if he doesn't think its good enough.
Also, as far as the new character goes, i think there will be much more to come. After the Bandstocks events and everything, its still clear the old Patrick is still there (what with the first event where there was only a few instuments and it was all acoustic), and so i imagine that should he release another single, whatever it may be, it will be a different aspect to the character than what we see here, as this only documents a single story and time.
I don't know, i think with anything that everyone does, there will always be people who dislike it and love it, or like it and hate it, and opinions will always be divided, in terms of Patrick, i think its one of those things where his past work has been so great, that anything new will be hard to digest at first and get used to, and its something that is bound to divide opinion, but when the whole album comes out, we will have the bigger picture, and things might slot into place more.
Either way... Each to thier own.
EDIT: Just thought (and sorry to go on and on), maybe its the fact that few of us (to my knowledge anyway and me personally) have not really dabbled in this kind of thing (the whole bondage, devil worshipping kind of stuff), and in the past everything he has done has in some way related to alot of peoples lives. Hmmm...

It seems like a lot of people here were expecting straight-up porn or something. I was pretty surprised when I first saw the video, and frankly it's got too much ass for my liking. I don't think I'll watch the uncensored version, if he decides to release it.
I don't know, there are some parts that I really like -- his makeup is fantastic and the best part, I think, and I quite like his dramatic posturing against the wall like others have said -- and some of it I don't care for. I agree with whoever said it reminded them of the video for Wind in the Wires, as that was a connection I made too, especially because of all the camera flashes (which I really could have had fewer of). I don't think the editing was extremely well done.
I think I like it overall, but since yesterday I've lost the desire to watch it again. I keep thinking it would be a fantastic source for icons, but that's more for the livejournal users...

i thought the editing was superb. i mean, there are some great lolworthy parts, especially the bit where we first see 'the vulture' and it zooms in and there's dry ice floating around, but i really like how some parts are played backwards. a lot. i think it's really clever. patrick's acting is still a bit meh, but he's not an actor, so i didn't expect anything in that department, therefore i'm not disappointed.
and you guys, we're never going to see the uncensored version, heh.

I think a lot of people here are just way too into analyzing and picking everything apart.... I like patrick because he is always different and does things his way... If he always stayed the same on every album it would be boring and he wouldn't be who he is.... He is his own person and should be able to express himself in whichever way he chooses.... It bothers me that some people on here are so critical of everything...... I thought that somehow his music would have changed people to being more open..... But instead some people have turned into what he is trying to fight...... I just felt that somebody needed to say all this.... Oh well...

I watched it couple hours ago, and I still can't decide what to think about it. I like the roughness of the cuts and directing but I think I would like it more without the writhing bondage parts.
I mean, he looks awesome most of the video and somehow I can't stop thinking of (Jason Isaacs as) Lucius Malfoy when seeing Patrick with the extensions, but I think I could live without seeing too much skin. It's probably the supporting theme in the video and the whole Vulture-thing, but I still feel kinda awkward looking it.
But it's okay and not really that big part (timelessly) of the video (just splitting alot fans and making discussion, which the previous I think is a good thing) I really love love love the more arty parts of the video and I think it really suits to the song. Can't wait for more!

Well, what to say. The video is nice, not having any problems on that. But I don't like the sound of the song. I must say that I am dissapointed... And I don't want to be dissapointed, I want to like the song but I can't...

I really like it. Bit too much bum, but what the hey. Patrick looks great and one of things about him I love most is his ability to completely reinvent himself. I'm surprised its a surprise for anybody that hes gone and done it again, haha. Can't wait for the Bachelor and so proud to 'be a part of it' through bandstocks.

Not rally liking the video but it did make me giggle. The song was awesome live but the single version is sounding a bit restrained/polished for me.

I like the bondage. I'm not sure how it links to the vulture concept but its fun, and refreshing in comparison with everything else.
