The chorus of Battle uses the same chords as the chorus in The Magic Position. 2 songs, completely contrasting in themselves (lyrically, tone, concept) and yet they use the same chords (Bmaj to G#m, I believe) Anyone else think this was intentional? Isn't Patrick a clever fellow

Probably not. Patrick re-uses a LOT of chord sequences. Not necessarily noticeable and not necessarily a good or bad thing, but yeah, he does.

Most songwriters tend to use the same motifs over and over agin, don't they?

That is pretty cool, though. I normally get annoyed when artists repeat the same chords over and over again, but in Patrick's case, he can do so without making songs that sound the same. (In fact, he's probably got some of the most variety in songs I've seen in an artist. The Sun is Often Out Vs. Battle? Two songs away on the same album?)

Most of his songs are two barred strings on a baritone uke tuned to open D anyway.

Yeah, he uses the Am-F sequence a hell of a lot (Damaris, Bluebells, The Bluebell, Thickets, etc.), haha.
