Personally I think 'The Sun is Often Out' is the best song of Patrick's repertory and I was just wondering whether it would be likely that he will perform it live.
I often get extremely emotional listening to that song, and think to hear it live would be a really special experience.

He played it live instead of 'Vulture' during the encore in Sheffield in May; I did actually cry a bit, it was so beautiful!
I think whether he plays it live or not would probably depend on his mood, ie. he played it at Sheffield because he had food poisoning and didn't have enough energy to keep to the setlist, but you never know! He should play it at the Palladium show as well.

He played it when I saw him, the first non-bandstock show back in May. I did cry a wee bit

As for live - I recall him saying that he would play either 'Sun' or 'Who Will' on any given night - but not both, as each one takes him to emotional depths.

Oh yeah, we did! I cried at TSIOO at Sheffield, and Who Will? at Shoreditch. But then again, I didn't stop crying all the way through Shoreditch. I even cried at TMP! Ha ha, lame.

I will also admit I did well up the first time I heard it. It was live at the first band stocks event.
I dont think its his best song but it is quite powerful. Pulls on the heart stings a bit. I also find I very uplifting in a way. Probably have a specifically soft spot coz I work in Bermondsy near tower bridge...

Sheffield was a pretty good gig setlist wise minus the missing Tristan I'm glad I made the last minute decision to see him.

This song is one of my favourites from 'The Bachelor' and indeed probably one of my favourite songs that Patrick has done. I think it's beautiful and I think seeing it live with the string section and choir will be sublime.

I'm gutted I've seen him three times this year and he hasn't played it Yet he's played Who Will? twice, and...well, it's not exactly that great...

I agree cmj. I've seen a YouTube vid of him doing it live and it sounds spectacular!
