I m SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Pissed off!!!
According to Patricks people he was " too tired to see anyone tonight and wanted to back to his hotel" After not being able to attend the soundcheck, I am MIGHTY pissed off, why have a competition if you arent going to honour it!!
Im so angry and upset, I got excited for nothing

That's really bad, I'm not surprised you're pissed off. Talk about getting your hopes up- you must have been so excited throughout the show thinking you were going to meet him and then to be told that. I don't doubt that touring must be very tiring and draining, but like you said, if you agree to something you need to honour it really. Maybe there's some other explanation? This soundcheck 'party' idea seems a bit weird really, you wonder where the idea came from and who wanted to do them! What was the show like, did Patrick seem tired during the gig?

This is going to be a really slack first post.. I was there last night and this exact thing happened to me, i'm still hugely upset. Patrick was not ill, he was just having a bitch strop. The crowd was a bit poo, in my opinion it was part due to his attitude. I wont be buying anymore of his music. Hi Suedehead, nice to meet you last night, i have no clue which one you are

Wow. Seems that winning this 'prize' is like being handed the proverbial poison challis. Patently, Patrick did not endorse the idea, and someone in his team needs a good dressing down, for coming up with a plan that is alienating both artist and audience.
As re his attitude in Liverpool. Oh dear. Bit early in the tour for a meltdown isn't it? Tell us more?

this idea was very much marketing, as far as i'm aware. i don't really know what to say except for a profuse apology.

not buying any more music because of that??? wtf. maybe he already felt bad during the show? maybe he had a headache? maybe something was wrong with someone close to him and that made him upset? what gives you the right to say that he just had a "bitch strop"? I do think Team Wolf should have given you a free poster or something, but it's not like he cancelled the gig.. you guys are very harsh. it's not like anyone made an effort to win this competition, you just sent an email. I do agree that the whole idea of the "soundcheck parties" is a bit weird, and some other competition would have been better/less exhausting for patrick.

I have the same view as TTYN, you were let down sure, it's very frustrating, and I'm sure something should have been done to help make up for this, but it's not like you payed. You didn't lose anything. It's a bit childish to say 'well I've had enough of that Patrick bloke!' just because he wasn't up to meeting a load of fans after an exhausting show. You shouldn't have to be reminded that he is human.

Obviously very frustrating and upsetting, could have been handled better by mangement, but as said above, a silly reason to stop listening to Patrick Wolf's music.

I dunno, I understand it. What a serious letdown, these soundcheck parties seem to have turned out to be a bit of a joke. kirstystaunch didn't say she wasn't going to stop listening, just stop buying. That seems like a fair reaction to me if an artist fucks you over and doesn't even give you a decent reason.

I also went to a soundcheck thing, and we got to meet him and then watch a bit of the soundcheck, then we got chucked out. It was advertised as a party and wasn't. I think that if they can't be bothered to carry out what they promised, then just don't do anything at all.
The whole concept of the soundcheck party is wierd. Also, Patrick is clearly not going to have load of spare time during the tour, so i just think they shouldn't have had it. Then less people would have been let down.

Ugh, that sounds embarrassing. I'd feel like I was a hindrance to the proceedings.
Though i must admit I'd feel I was an annoyance whenever/wherever I met him.

Hi all sorry my 1st post is negative. I also won to meet Patrick last night (on that note Suedehead it was very nice to meet you enjoy Mr Stephen tonight!) I was ecstatic I love his music and yesterday was the first chance I'd ever had to see him so when I got the email I was bouncing off the walls and gutted I'd left my Camera in Manchester (I traveled to see Patrick here and visit my family) I was so angry and upset when we were told it wasn't happening, I understand that touring must be hard and Patrick isn't a fan of it but all he had to do was come talk for ten minutes , get a photo sign a single and that's it. It sucks that the competitions were organized without his consent but I still don't think that justifies him ditching his fans as poppyyyyyy said just don't have the competition at all. I have no time for people who fuck their fans over my Wolf love is well and truly ruined

Wait - they were arranged without his consent? I didn't realise that. Hmm, sounds odd to me - he's not normally like that, is he? I hope it wasn't meant in a bitchy way. I don't think it would've been. He was lovely when I met him at Candlelit Matinée, and he was in loads of pain then.

I don't think that it was organised without his consent? jay? but it probably wasn't his idea.

Sorry consent wasn't the right word to use at all
I got the impression this whole competition wasn't Patricks idea and something he wasn't overly happy about doing.
I heard loads of stories of how lovely he is which makes it all worse.

What was the show like, did Patrick seem tired during the gig? He seemed happy at first but went a bit quiet towards the end. For the encore, he came back on his own and did The Sun Is Often Out. No Vulture or Magic Position. The crowd probably didn't help. There were some annoying drunk people behind us who kept shouting things at him and talking really loudly, even during the encore.

That drunk girl? I wanted to kill her during the encore

Yeah, I did too.
It's annoying anyway, but doing it during The Sun Was Often Out when it was just Patrick on his own is even worse.
