so the first bandstock event was this evening and it was fantastic. i thought i should start a thread for it as there will be plenty more of these kinds of events in the future and we can all talk about them in here. there will be another bandstocks-related event in a few weeks time, i believe, so those of you that have already invested that didn't get to this one will probably be invited to the next, or the next, and so on.
with that out of the way, tonight was brilliant. i've just received word that patrick is cool with me sharing my videos of the evening here so they will probably be on my youtube account tomorrow when i upload them all, and i'll edit this post with a link to them. i recorded most of the songs and all of the question time. i hope that the people who were taking photos this evening will post them here it was great to meet you all, even that guy from the nme
i'm kind of rambling. i'm not sure where to start in describing tonight. it was so intimate and personal, there was only a lamp and a few candles for lighting, and we were all very close to patrick. no microphones. he sang purely and wonderfully. his voice has gotten so much stronger, i almost feel proud of him but i sound like a clucking mother hen, so i will stop. he previewed some of the songs from the new album but obviously we had to imagine the choir and orchestral sections but he did a great job in describing to us what the sound would be like. he also performed a lovely piano version of 'vulture', which i believe is going to be the next single, with a b-side of 'the tinderbox' which i first heard at the union chapel show but it wasn't ready for our ears back then so we only heard a small snippet of it.... i can tell you that it is absolutely perfect now, such a beautiful song.
there is a tentative time frame for everything... the first single will be out very soon, along with a video (described by patrick as having him romping around in the snow as a dominatrix-type figure, killing people) and plenty of remixes, more singles, then the first part of 'battle' will be out by june. obviously don't hold me to this, it all depends on how things flow from now on, and it especially depends on the investments in bandstocks.
i can honestly say it feels so amazing to be a part of this, like, i can't imagine why anyone who is a fan of patrick's music would refuse to buy a stock, considering it ensures that he gets to keep on producing music for us all to enjoy. the benefits are wonderful as well, though even if they weren't an option, i would still invest. i would like to take the opportunity right now to urge you all to invest, or urge your friends who care about patrick's music and career to invest, etc.
alright. i'll stop rambling now. i could ramble about patrick kissing me twice on the cheeks and being lovely but you all know he's a darling anyway so that would be redundant, and of course you all know that victoria is amazing and talented and a real genuine girl (hilarious as well, i will always remember the story of the algerian!!). i'll be back tomorrow with all the videos for you. i did try and take pictures but the lighting was bad and besides, i took three pictures with my fujifilm and recorded a video that totalled a minute and it said my memory was full. the videos i did take were from my phone so i hope they're of an alright quality.
i did ask on behalf of the forum whether he'd received the birthday book or not, but sadly because it was sent to his record label, he never got it. in future, if you would like to send anything, i would be able to send it to his manager on behalf of the board, i'm sure i mentioned that before but oh well. the thought was there and i'm sure patrick was flattered that you all made something for his birthday
