Patrick Wolf does..... Merzbow? Well, not really, but it's not exactly what I expected from the song, but I do love...

I'm not sure what to think of it. it annoys me that I have to go to the stereo to lower the volume everytime this song comes up, otherwise it would drive my neighbours insane. what is he trying to say with this song? a friend of mine used to go to these illegal techno parties in the early nineties, and she says this song sounds exactly like the music they played there. I guess TMP has it all, all little jazzgroove here, a little darktechno there..

i really like the first half of the song..
i think it fits in with 'fall back into the impossible dream'.. and then you open the door.. i bloody love the piano on this track (and the augustine solo bit is amazing as well, his piano playing has come on A LOT) but then the electronics really don't seem to fit in for me..

I want Patrick to make a whole album like the secret garden one day, but I might be the only one!

No you aren't. I would absolutely love that. Noise and awesome piano lines.

Maybe that'll be his "difficult fourth album"?

Ha, one way of putting it, also not exactly the best way to go about becoming a widely recognised pop-star...

I have a bootleg of Patrick performing a song in Newcastle on the last tour, which my friend recorded on her phone. It starts with the line, 'Picking a scab / I open a crater', and also features the 'turn the key' bit from 'The Secret Garden'.

I think it sounds quite nice, the sound of the turning lock especially.

I love the first half with the piano, but not too sure about all the noise. I think that first half could have been placed in between A&E and The Bluebell.
Also I've posted this elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure he played The Secret Garden at the Bloomsbury gig (or at least, introduced a song as The Secret Garden) - but I'm pretty sure that it couldn't have been the one which has ended up on the album. So would be interesting to know what happened there...

I definitely like it as well - there's a lot of tension in it, and the strings at the later part together with the noise are fabulous. Wouldn't mind at all if the "difficult" next album was along these lines...

The latter part reminds me of the music of Akira Yamaoka. A mixture of industrial and ambient with a nice siren-like scream. It's very close to Lycanthropy, so I'm hoping he'll be back in black for the fourth outing.

Maybe that'll be his "difficult fourth album"? GOD, I hope so! I want unbearably dark, gloomy, noisy and apocolyptic Scott Walker/Nico-esque completely fucked up and psychotic album.

I love Secret Garden. All of it. I think it creates a nice contrast against the rest of the album.. Not too sure that I would be too crazy about it if i hadn't heard it in "context", though..

I thoroughly enjoy the chaos and tension of this song
It's like when someone, everything, BREAKS
down down down !

The latter part reminds me of the music of Akira Yamaoka. The same thing came to my mind when i first listened to "Secret Garden". I really like this "silent hill-ish" sound. (i don't know if Yamaoka really inspired Patrick Wolf, but it's still interesting to notice...)
