So, my Ipod wasn't playing when I hit the play button, so I hooked it up to the computer, but the computer didn't register it and now it still has the "charging" thing on it even though I unhooked it.
I tried all the troubleshooting stuff that worked when this happened once before. This Ipod isn't even old. I hope it is still under warrenty. This is ridiculous.
Does anyone have any idea what to do about this/how to fix it?

Yeah. Basically this happened to me once before and nobody could do anything about it. I had to go to the Apple store and talk to one of their "geniuses" at the "genius bar." Apparently he was pretty pathetic for a genius (he couldn't do a thing to fix my iPod), so I had to buy a new one. Trade in your old one, though, for a discount on a new one, and buy a bigger one. I'm sorry, because that really blows. I hate iPods, too. Unfortunately, I'm stuck buying them. I'll have to break this hellish cycle someday and buy a Zen or something.

Yeah definitely complain, talk to a manager blah blah, and they'll probably give in a give you a new one. oh the joys of retail.

I threw my iPod off a trampoline (accidentally) and they replaced it for free. It was quite easy to do (to get it replaced I mean, not to throw it off a trampoline).

Have you tried pressing centre and menu together? That should shut it down, then you might be able to do the whole factory reset thing, which although it probably takes a million years to reload your stuff, made mine work like it ws brand new. Or I can ship my brother out to you - he is the ultimate genius at ipod rescusitation.

haha, thanks. but my ipod fixed itself. that's what ALL the ipod sites say to do, but when the buttons don't respond (or do, but get confused) it doesn't really work. someone should invent a good ipod alternative.

i chucked my iPod onto the road (accidently) and the screen got a crack and black stuff started leaking but i can still hear the music, it still works, and all i can see on the screen is blackness and how long the song is. i would get it replaced but all my music is on my iPod, not on my computer, as i lost all my music files somehow. meh. =[

ouch, inever understood how/why the blackness leaks. You can get your music from your ipod back onto your computer for free by the apple company, but it's a once in a lifetime thing, then you've got to pay for it. They don't really advertise this.
