Yeah, but that could be fixed simply by moving certain threads to this forum. With that done, there wouldn't be a need for a shiny, brand new forum dedicated to just discussion when the Common Room is perfectly suitable for that.
The Music forum seems to be on-topic all the time. Using that as an example, I think as long as people know what belongs in each forum, things will turn out fine. For instance, in the "What Made Your Day Today" thread, someone responded to my post about a pick-up line, but I chose to respond to that person using the Forum Forum's "Off-Topic Thread" instead of the "What Made Your Day Today" thread. That way I could respond, but still keep the main thread on topic.
Did that make sense? I don't think it did.

We could try doing things like a 'random' thread that is solely for being off-topic. Unless that is what the official off topic thread is for. Which I would assume it is, but I am lazy and don't check all the threads.

You could always resort to color coding. One color for on topic, one color for off topic. That way it would be easier to navigate threads.
I think I am joking. But I really do like color coding things.

OH! My goodness, I came on here, and I got mightily confused. Thought I'd slept through the apocalypse or something. I'm actually really pleased with this whole moving around thing. Yesterday I felt a lot of despair and frustration, and I didn't really know why, I just was. :-\

Annabel, that is very sad, you are one of my favourite people! But I see what you're saying. This has been one of the first threads I've taken notice of and read through carefully in a very long time which is quite sad as it shows how much I skip and ignore now. A lot of the time now there are just pages and pages of conversations, (which I don't mind, it is a friendly forum after all), but recently they've been pointless replies which, like a lot of people have said, don't contribute anything. I'm not saying I've never done this, I probably have in the last month more than ever before. And I'm not saying that every thread has to have a serious topic which everyone has to make long indepth replies, because, to be honest, I find those threads very amusing. It's just when it's used in the wrong way I don't like it. I hadn't actually noticed how much everything has changed recentley until all this came up, but maybe because I've only been here for 6 months. But I'm glad this topic did come about because now I know what everyone else feels like and now I'll double check my post is in the right place before I post it! That last sentence isn't meant to sound sarcastic by the way.
edit: I've just realised I sound very snobbish in this post. I don't mean to, promise! edit again: After writing all of this I realise what a great job I'm doing on checking posts. This shouldn't be in this thread at all. I'll put it in the other thread in a minute.

Would it be simpler if someone were to start a thread, in say, the Common Room and specify that they'd like you to stay on topic, in their post? I already suggested that, I think it would be a good idea.

No! No, I don't think you did. It seemed a pretty obvious thing to suggest, really.

I don't like the changes, and I really don't like the renaming.
I go away for ONE week and everything changes. Tsk.

I wish i could post like lastgoodbye. :S Thanks, but in what way? Posting, then when no-one replies, posting again so I have two posts in a row. How cool am I? I'm pretty sure she types and presses "post reply" like everyone else. There is waaaay more skill goes into it than that. I will never give away my secret!
