. And anyway. The MySpace Top 8 is possibly the most absurd concept on the internet. Putting friends in order? Why the fuck would you even want to do that!? I totally agree, I've been meaning to get rid of my top friends list for a while, well when someone shows me how to do it! I dunno the worse thing is, is inane as it is you can't help be a bit paranoid when someone drops you dramatically in there friends list or takes you out all together.

Tar! btw the way Luke I didn't think you where saying my internet friendships weren't valid or having a pop. I just though I'd use your perspective as a springboard to share mine as it's been something I've been thinking and worrying about lately myself.

That's why I really don't frequent MySpace. It just seems like a site designed as a popularity competition, and the more friends you have, the more you'll be 'liked' or admired.

I didn't mean it shouldn't be used or can't be used as a communication device - I just mean, when I was still in public school, I'd see that ridiculous obsession with being 'cool' and popular. I'd personally rather be close to the people on my 'friends list' than just friending people to impress everyone else. And before anyone misreads that, I'm not saying everyone is a bigheaded idiot who is looking for attention. :b

I'd have a newfound respect for anyone that has over 30 friends and can keep up with them all on a regular basis.

i don't understand it when people have hundreds of friends and claim to know them all Really? I dunno. I have about 80 friends on my friends list (that's excluding bands). I talk to all of them when I see them, which is at least once a month or so. And I've got a load of friends without MySpace too. And I don't think I've got a huge number of friends compared to some people...

I really don't think it's that big a thing to keep up with people... And I'm sure I'm not that sociable

Haha. We've got very different opinions, apparently. It's all about the networking...

I really don't think it's that big a thing to keep up with people... It is for me, mostly because I'm really selective about who I want to talk with at all, so there is no chance in Hell I'll end up with 80 people on my friends list. Haha.

I hate the word "networking" I mean I can't believe such a Patrick Bateman-esque piece of yuppie speak is actually used by normal everyday people now. Well that is, unless you mean like, real networking, ie making professional contacts etc. But even then, I don't like the word.
It's true though everyone looks at things differently, I'd fucking hate having 80 friends, how could you give everyone a decent amount of attention and when would you have a moment for yourself? Plus that would mean actually leaving the house.. I'm one of these people who legitimately without a word of bullshit prefers his own company to others, so if I'm going to have a friend I have to actually care about them a lot or I can't really be arsed.

That came out wrong. What I meant was that it's not that big a thing to make the effort to keep up with people. Like I said, I'm good friends with practically everyone on my friends list...

... you keep up with 80 close friends AND have nearly two thousand posts here and presumably you put in the hours in working at what you do.
Do you have lots of clones of yourself you delegate to do different jobs?

Plus that would mean actually leaving the house.. I speak on the phone to about 4 of my friends everyday. More or less without fail. There's probably about another 10 that I'll see 4 or so times a week when I go out and we'll sit in a pub etc. and the rest of them are people that I'll organise things to do with once every couple of weeks or so. Everyone forms friendship groups so I just end up spending time with a load of them at the same time. It's not hard at all and I still do have a lot of time to myself...

That would be so awesome. Then I'd be able to see myself do jumping jacks. I've always wondered what me doing jumping jacks would look like. Do you have lots of clones of yourself you delegate to do different jobs?

Do you have lots of clones of yourself you delegate to do different jobs? I don't put hours into what I do. I'm doing my a-levels and not revising. Today I've rang 2 of my friends at uni and been to lunch with a few close friends. I don't know how to say it correctly. The 80 are practically all lovely people who I love spending time with, but compared to some of my friends they don't compare so I see them maybe once a fortnight or once a month. Practically everyone I know does the same as me. So I'm not an exception... It doesn't even require planning. I think it just sounds I'm doing a lot more than I actually am...

I notice from what you say that, that sounds totally the norm for you and a lot of others I'd guess but to me it's utterly weird. It's all about doing what makes you happy I guess. Haha to continue this "an audience with Tikwid" type trail of thought, how on earth can you afford to go out that much without working? Do you get EMA or something?
