I didn't go to my school dance. Instead, I went to a cinema to see Inland Empire by myself.
Me - pretty sad?

Well, fuck 'em, they'd only play Smack That and have a room of people I don't like staggering around drunkenly until they vomit on their new dresses/haircuts.
Geekery > imposed extracurricular "fun" forever.

Rah. I smell another circle-jerk of Eurovision style tactical voting.

someone should photoshop some invitations and the actual trophy awards things, with a wolf and a computer all gold plated.
EDIT: how do we know who to vote for? (ie. will be narrowed down to 5 nominees?)

EDIT: how do we know who to vote for? (ie. will be narrowed down to 5 nominees?) You use your own fair judgment and forum knowledgez.

No, Melba has a fair point. Maybe there should be two rounds of voting:
1) vote for whoever you like
and then narrow down to top 5 people in each category (or less if there are not at least 5)
2) vote for 1 of the 5
that way there shouldn't be too much indecision of a clear winner.

I agree with Victoria's methods.
Have we narrowed down the categories?

hmm I'm personally not so cool with these ideas, it makes it a bit more of a specific popularity contest if we narrow it down to "top five best" everything, in a way it's better because more people are mentioned, but in a way it's bad because some people will not even be nominated and I have a sneaking suspicion the same people will be nominated in the final 5 of a lot of the catagories. I.e creating an elite.
I dunno if it's what people want to do, it's your fourm, your awards, but I think it's too rigorous and scientific a way of deciding on what really should be a bit of fun, not taken to seriously.

Fair point again. Maybe narrow it to 10.
But I think there will be the same people nominated for all the awards anyway.

I say just one overall winner, ie the person with the most votes in each category, and people will be allowed to create their own awards while voting, so you know spread the awards around as much as possible.
My goal for these awards are to make people smile, and possible have a good lolz, not to seriously rigorously determine who the "best", best looking, most intelligent people on the forum are..
I vote- keep it simple.

I think as long as everybody knows your true intentions(to have a good time), whatever you choose to do should be fine.

I think what you might find by not doing it the way that Victoria suggested is that people might not vote for the same person, therefore the highest votes for the person who wins will either be 2 or 3, selon moi.
