holy crap! this song is beautiful... I can't stop listening to it and I really want to wrap it up into a little blanket and tuck it to bed. Any other opinions?

i absolutely loved it live, i was speechless and couldn't dance because i really liked the beats and just..everything.. i can't wait to hear the album version. whenever i listen to the radio version i end up tapping out the rhythm on the edge of my laptop, haha.

i didnt like it. i only heard the acoustic version on XFM and was dissapointed. if the album has beats in it, it might sway my vote.
My favorite song on WITW for a long while was Teignmouth but i when i saw the live version with the drums on fabchannel, i held my head and said "why? why does it sound so bland suddenly???". i think patrick is stronger with his studio arrangements most of the time then his live ones.

I agree with Patrick finding his music hard to recreate in the live arena.
I think as he gets more well know (and rich..) he'll get a larger band and it'll work better. Its not the lads fault. His amazing talent, vocally and instrumentally is always apperant. I just didnt think 3 muscians alone could pull off some of the WITW stuff. But then you dont go to a live gig to listen to cd quality versions of song, you can do that at home.
I felt slightly disapointed by my first and to date only live Patrick experience, but only cos I was so obessive at the time I built it up to such a stupid degree it couldnt help but be slightly anti-climaxesque.
The bloody drummer played all the slow songs a wee bit too fast.

I just love Patrick live!!! His most fantastic instrument is his voice. The emotions he gets over are contagious. ...but his other skills are not to be dismissed!

The bloody drummer played all the slow songs a wee bit too fast. well, i dont expect to have a train running on stage and a live sample of it.... i am talking about knowing what he is capable of. it surprised me that the arrangment of the song live wasn't exciting as his arrangments on cd. IT DOESNT MEAN it should be an exact remake of the way the song is on CD. i want to hear a the song in a fresh way - what i DO expect is to maintain the energy of it. since he obviously knows how to arrange and produce many instruments together and amazingly so, it seemed that in some songs, most apparnt to me on Teignmouth, that the beat section wasnt great. on Teignmouth the drummer just did a standrd 4X4 drumming and too fast at that. i thought the arrangement would be fitting to the song. i know patrick is not a drummer... although.... maybe he is and we dont know yet! the fabchannel version btw, is basically the way he played it live on most of the WITW tour. sometimes he played only piano - and THAT version was very pretty! and to stay on the thread subject - i still dont like overture

I think Patrick sounds even more amazing live than recorded! I listen to all of the live recordings just as much if not more than the recorded songs, probably because they're different, keeping things interesting. I love Overture. It's been playing on repeat all week. When he was playing it on xfm I nearly cried it was so beautiful. I love it with the piano, but he said it's going to be a string quartet version on the album.

Most Overture's are really badly put together pieces of music with no lyrics at all. This is amazing and to me really feels like it can introduce you to the album with an open mind and a smile It's wonderful what a smile can hide If the teeth shine right and it's nice and wide It's so magical what you can keep inside And if you bury it deep no one can find a thing, no.
So come on now, open wide, open up now. Don't you think it's time To look back at that boy on his way to school Such a heavy heart, such a heavy jewel hiding something that one day he'll sell But now if no one shows, no one tells a thing, no.
So come on love, open wide, open up now Don't you think it's time
Now after all these years you are at last opening was it worth all that war just to win So caught up in the speed of the days in your sin Don't forget how the story begins no Don't forget now.
Now I'm seeing all your lovers and enemies They've been turining their keys so full of need All trying to see that sure you keep What makes it shine, what makes it mine But I don't care.
Just come on now, open wide. Open up now. There's so much love for what you'll find.
But what will you find!
Now after all these years you are at last opening Was it worth all that war just to win.
If it was can you take me back to where it begins Come and take me back to where it begins Come and take me back to where it begins Come on, open wide and let some light in.
Let us in. Let us in.

the version of Teignmouth played during the recent tour was really good actually, had a nice drum sample looping through it, worked well.

the version of Teignmouth played during the recent tour was really good actually Yah I really liked Teignmouth on the recent tour, and I LOVED the version of 'to the lighthouse'. The first time I heard overture I wasn't hugely impressed but I love it now. The version someone posted on here; is it from XFM or BBC 6 music, as someone said 6Music but the file says XFM - confusion! x

Bloody hell. Overture is fabulicious. It is such a lovely song, and when he introduced it at the Glasgow gig, it was just such an uplifting way to begin!
