1. Coco Rosie - 'Madonna'. 2. Lady Sovereign - 'Badass Stripper'. 3. Joni Mitchell - 'The Jungle Line'. 4. Antony & the Johnsons - 'Rapture'. 5. Misty Roses - 'Komodo Dragons'. 6. Judy Collins - 'Nightingale'. 7. Penny Broadhurst - 'Rhythm Rebel'. 8. Britney Spears - 'When I Found You'. 9. Chet Baker - 'Embraceable You'.
Patrick Wolf - starring Britney Spears, Judy Collins, and the sensational Ms. Penny Broadhurst - our very own binglybongly!

Thanks a lot!!!
The Jungle Line is being played. Sounds very bjoerkish. Hardly to believe, that this is Joni Mitchell.
And oh my god, Patrick himself is introducing the songs!

Ms Spears strikes me as quite unusual here...

Maybe there should be some kind of a "media alarm" thread, where we could put all the news about upcoming events with Patrick...

i wonder what makes him like britney spears so much. Well, she is a very sweet and beautiful girl. Besides, the title of the song is "When I found you" and not, as he introduced it "If I had you", which is just one of the lines in this song ... You never know, maybe the blackest depth in Patricks soul is technicolour. <g> I'm very pleased, that 'Embraceable You' was on his playlist. This Gershwin-Song is one of my favorite songs. I didn't know the Chet-Baker-Version yet, which is heartbreaking beautiful. I will have a look on Antony and the Johnsons, because this 'Rapture'-Song was really something.

Or maybe Patrick and his technicolour soul are just intrigued by those who don't possess one (a soul, that is). And yes, Antony and the Johnsons are indeed amazing! They are touring at the moment, and coming to the UK soon - I'd definitely recommend checking them out, and hurry, before all the dates sell-out (many already have). The new cd is called "I Am A Bird Now". Brilliant stuff! Hello, by the way! I am new! Well, long-time lurker, first-time poster, rather.

Unless...
Patrick just likes good pop music?
'When I Found You' is ace (although this in no way implies it is anywhere near as good as 'Bombastic Love' or 'Cinderella' from the same album).
'I Run Away', however, is her best work.

*shakes head in incredulity at the appreciation of the work of Britney Spears and not that of the Smiths*
Ah well. To each his own, as they say.

Oh please. Have you yet forgotten our Moz's taste in music. Aside from "young bands who rip him off and he clearly fancies", like the Ordinary Boys (dismal) and the Dears (pathetic), his greatest love is for manufactured girl pop of the Sixties, in whose proud lineage our Britters follows.
If you can't like proper pop music, or accept that your heroes do, you might as well be an Oasis fan bottling anyone who dares not to fit into their idea of cool or authentic.

When asked about Britney in NME he was quoted saying that she was a symbol of a higher beauty and perfection compared to Christina Aguilera who is just about sex. I think.

Jesus Christ, what a welcome! I accept that Peter enjoys the music of Britney Spears, I just fail to see the appeal, myself, and it surprises me, that's all. It surprises me that he is able to appreciate something that I find so vacuous and unoriginal, while dismissing The Smiths so easily. But I didn't say that there's anything wrong with that! In fact, I believe the words I used were "To each his own"! And I happen to like the Dears, thank you very much. Well, I do love Patrick's music, makes me feel and warm and happy inside, but I can't say I'm feeling much warmth around here. Back to lurking it is, then. Cheers.

Oh it's sad, that you want to give up writing, because I enjoyed your writing and it is always fine with me, if someone has a different point of view. In case you drop in the other day: Speaking with Britney's "wicked" song <g>, when I found Patrick, it was one of my best moments, because he put me back to some long forgotton sources of mine and introduces me to artists whom I probably never had experienced otherwise: Antony and the Johnsons are just great musicians! I have got both albums now and I like the instruments, the melancholy, the gospel feeling and after some listening even the voice of Antony, though I usually prefer deeper voices, especially the one of Patrick.
