I know some of this discussion was in the other Harry Potter thread, but I felt that the book needed its own. SO, consider this spoiler territory, yes? And you can continue discussing the movie in the other.
I gather that the book has already leaked online. But who knows if this is real or not. I haven't looked at it. But, I am a weak, weak human being and went to the DH spoiler community on livejournal. I really, really shouldn't have. It sounds.. really weird. I'm sure it will make more sense in the actual book. Assuming it turns out to be true.
So, until it comes out! Feel free to post about your plans for the midnight release? Or any spoilers you might have heard? Or theories?!
I am SO excited!

I think Snape will sacrifice himself for Harry at the last second. I mean, I really can't see that situation not happening. However, he will pretty much be an evil git the rest of the time before his amazing decision to go to the good side.

I thinkVoldemort should die and everyone will be happy but then suddenly Harry will die for some unknown reason.
Simply because they are my two most hated characters.

My predictions, for your pleasure: www.denofgeek.com/movies/2859/how_will_the_harry_potter_franchise_end.htmlI'm also developing a new theory which relies heavily on Trelawney never having performed magic in the books, and being - for all intents and purposes - a Muggle who got lucky; based on J.K. Rowling's 'more to Aunt Petunia than meets the eye' comments, I predict that *rolls up billowing sleeves and throws silken scarf over shoulder, in a 'step back, girlfriend!' manner* Aunt Petunia is a Seer. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I've thought for a while that Petunia might be a squib, I like the seer iidea.

When's the book in the stores? Since there seems to be leaked copies out there, I figured it must be pretty soon?

I've been saying for weeks that the whole of the seventh book will just be one big Weasley orgy.

When's the book in the stores? Since there seems to be leaked copies out there, I figured it must be pretty soon? /t The book comes out on SATURDAY. That means Friday night is going to be EXPLOSIONS OF FUN. but then suddenly Harry will die for some unknown reason. I hear he lives. AND dies. But that's just speculation... I don't understand how people can hate Harry and still read the books. :-\ Ron gets raped, or turns out to be gay. My predictions. YOU'RE RIGHT. He's totally gay for Harry. And Neville. And Seamus. And Dean. All together. I've thought for a while that Petunia might be a squib, I like the seer iidea. You can't be a squib unless you're a nonmagical person from a magical family. Lily was a muggleborn, so, you know, her parents were Muggles, and thus, Petunia couldn't really be a squib. UNLESS, there is something there that we don't know yet. I wanted to edit this post last night to say no real spoilers before the book, but then my internet died, so oh well now.

I think I'm going to have to pick up a copy on my way home from Lovebox.
On my way home meaning, I'm going to trek across London to buy one blind drunk.

You should read it all drunk too. It could be most entertaining. Or at least, flip to random bits..

Or I could just read the last chapter in the shop, and then go around telling all the little kids how it ends. Boo yah.

I'm probably the only one on this board who thinks the HP books are a bit too generic and bland... I have to confess I haven't given the last few books a real chance, though. I do think they're written in a very loving and attractive way, but still, they just don't stir any interest in me... Still, I definitely understand you people, and I'm glad you have this to be passionate about. They ARE popular for a reason.
As for spoilers, the last letter in the book is an L (not a capital L though). ;D

I think it would be more fun to run around screaming something that WASN'T true. And then have people cry and spend the whole time reading the book anticipating the spoiler right up until the end. Which, naturally, never happens! And then they'll be even more mad. As for spoilers, the last letter in the book is an L (not a capital L though). ;D /t Let's contemplate the ways it could end in a capital L, shall we? Also, I forgive you for not liking them. They aren't for everyone, I get that.

I sometimes wonder how the world would have reacted if the author had died in some freak accident and never finished the last book. THAT would have been exciting stuff. /t

I WOULD HAVE CRIED.
Well, not really. But maybe, eventually, they would have published all her notes on the matter, so we'd know in a roundabout sort of way what would have happened.
But that's much too horrible to imagine. And a good thing it isn't true!

I've heard that Harry Potter's and Lily Potter's eyes have more to do with the ending than JK Rowling has let on- my source is linked below....... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizo_Mzimba

harry will ask ron to marry him, ron will say no because harry is not ginger enough, harry will commit suicide and voldemort will take over the world is what i hope will happen.. on a serious note though, i'm sort of hoping harry will die and voldemort will survive and take over the world, it would be more interesting that harry killing voldemort and having an ending that is all lar de dar happy happy happy

I don't understand how people can hate Harry and still read the books. :-\ When I started reading the books I was okay with Harry. but round about the 3rd book I started hating him. But the books are still good so I still read them.
