HANG ABOUT! The book was only posted on the 23rd of this month, or so my brain wants me to believe...that's not even time to get the dosh to get the book, let alone read it.
So Sex, drugs and cocoa puffs it is.

i was at the airport all day and finished one novel. I need a new one soon, although I've bought "The White Man's Burden" and will be starting that shortly. When should we choose the next book to discuss.

I think we should read the graphic novel Persepolis, its beautiful and something different but eay to read. Its about the authors life growing up in Iran against the backdrop of the poiltical problems. Its a beautiful book, even if not for this cos it might be hard to get hold of, but ill nominate it anyway. Ooh, i feel a littel dirty quoting myself, but hey. I just realised there making a movie of this book also which gets me very excited, heres a teaser trailer for anyone interested - its all in damn french though with no subtitles, grrr: vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=2024322253 [Myspace Access Needed] Apparently the English version will have voices from Catherine Deneuve, Kirsten Dunst, Iggy Pop, and Sean Penn. Yum.

I'm going to prarie dog my little head in and belt another cry for Running with Scissors. I read his collection Magical Thinking before the movie for RWS was released, and I was very impressed with his drudge-wit, but I never did pursue actually reading anything else.
Burroughs was a major motivation for my friend to come out of the closet, and he really reeeeally enjoyed RWS the most, even after I let him borrow my copy of MT.
So yes, 'twould be a good book to start the summer with.

Running With Scissors is quite funny and kind of heavy, I haven't seen the movie but the trailers made it seem like a light hearted thing.
You should read Selllevision by him, it's quite amusing (it's a work of fiction), but a fast read. Dry was depressing.
EDIT: Should we just do Running With Scissors since 3 people have nominated it, or should we still do the lottery thing?

sellevision was funny but RWS just captivates you. and really it was only heavy in about two places.

The worst, heaviest book I ever read was definitely The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I literally had to eat a cracker after I read a page in order to reward myself. That was the only way I could keep reading that book for school.
