As Suggested by Josh, we'll have another round of nominating a new book this time, because no one read the second book that was drawn, well not no one, just one person.
Anyhoot,
Melba (melba toast) - Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
Poppy (Enfantterible) - Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Jose (Jose Mutiny) - Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs
Daniel (BoyHeroine) - Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
Nils (Shy Retirer) - A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
Josh (Lemon Bloody Cola) - And the Ass Saw the Angel by Nick Cave
Anne (AnneYGerne) - A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
(Feathers) - Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

I think we should read the graphic novel Persepolis, its beautiful and something different but eay to read. Its about the authors life growing up in Iran against the backdrop of the poiltical problems. Its a beautiful book, even if not for this cos it might be hard to get hold of, but ill nominate it anyway.

won't anne be mad that the book club was ripped from her hands? I should hope not. When I took my brief break from the forum I asked someone to take it over for me in my absence and Anne stepped up to the plate. A lot of confusion was going on as to the book club book for round two so I suggested starting the nomination process anew and this time it was Melba who was the first to step up to the plate. This isn't my book club, or Anne's book club, or Melba's book club, this is the PEOPLES book club. Does it really matter who 'runs' it so to speak?

did you let her know you were ripping it out of her hands, at least?

Stop stirring up trouble Jose, if Anne has a problem I'm sure she'll let us know herself, I'm sure she has more important things on though!
I'm just saying who runs the book club is irrelevant, it's not some sort of political power game for goodness sake. It's suppose to be a fun and interesting group activity.

Erm... Like Josh said, it's the wolfboard book club, Josh started it, I stepped in when he said he would be away, which suggested he'd come back and that I'd pass it over "to" him by then... I tried to give a hand, with no success, but then again... I guess we got something to learn from that: 1- well, believe it or not, there are non-native English speaking members who'd like to take part, and from my part, I'd love to especially since the delight I had from reading and absolutely discovering "On The Road" which I wouldn't have read under different circumstances. The important point being to enable members to discover authors and stories => this book club MUST go on 2- Not all the books have been translated in all the languages required to please all the members who'd like to take part => try to consider that aspect when you nominate a book 3- books are still not a popular object of consumption = easy to find at a very low price => try to favour books that might found as paper back and even in second hand book shops Well, it's my point of view on the matter, so... NOTE: I'm obviously reading a lot of french stuff for my dissertation at the moment, and I'm a afraid it reflects on my spelling, grammar etc on here. My apologies

But the first sentence about the non-native English speakers sounded sort of sarky and stand-offish, whats that about? I agree we shouldn't choose anything that is unlikely to have been translated.

Re-read it with that one at the end of the line => I don't suppose I have to say which book I'm nominating ;D
