It started with seeing him on 'The Culture Show' in 2006 i think it was although it might have been later than that. And my first thought was 'my mother will HATE this'. Not much attention was paid until I found his name on a poster for the festival I was working for (Latitude) and I took my mother along to see him. She didn't hate him (yet didn't like him either) Sometime in there I aquired his albums, 'Wind In The Wires' became my favorite, I forced many of my friends to listen to his music, to mixed results and I'm here, now, just being a fan.

A friend made me listen to a few tracks on Lycantrophy some years ago - I didn't really get into it, then. About a year and a half ago I stumbled over some review of the Magic Position, and I remembered that guy, Patrick Wolf. I was curious what kind of music he was up to now and youtubed him - found Wind in the Wires, The Magic Position, and was hooked.
Funnily enough, nowadays most of my favourite Patrick songs are from Lycantrophy.

I saw him on the Television playing at Glasto, and I was half freaked out, half amazed by him. I bought Lycanthropy about two months later and obsessed over it. It is still my favorite of his. I got WITW and Magic position about a year later when i was ready for some more. I was disappointed with them at first but they have grown on me. x

When The Magic Position came out there was a review of it in a local music magazine. It was rated with only 3 starts of five, but I've never really paid attention to these things. I loved the cover and was sure the music could be something special. so, I *cough* downloaded the music. I really loved the title track and a few others, but I don't know why it didn't really catch me... :/ but when I was in a sad mood I was listening to TMP and clapping with it but after I've seen the new video and heard the upcoming album (I'm sure I'm going to buy it) I asked myself where the fuck I've been this guy is AWESOME!

A friend liked him and had all 3 albums, so later Patrick piqued my curiosity and then I borrowed all 3. I'd vaguely known about him for a while but I didn't really have a great reason to go and listen to his music.
Definitely TMP that introduced me to him, it's a nice album to get into his other works from.

Must've been 2003. Not sure exactly what. Might have been something in NME, of all places, even though I'd stopped reading it by then. Might have been the I Love Music forum, though. Interested was piqued, nonetheless, by the thought of someone dressed as a Victorian street urchin but who sounded like Aphex Twin with a violin. Acquired the album, and reviewed it, very positively. Forgot about him until his second album came out, and someone else who wrote for our site covered it, raved about it, and pointed out that Patrick had written a song about where I live. Went to see him live; girlfriend and I both went from being fans to thinking he was a fucking genius. Reviewed second album for same website, and interviewed him too, circa TMP release.

Back in 2007 my friend played me The Magic position, I had the violin riff stuck in my head for about a week, then got her to send me a few more songs, then we got tickets for the Shepherds Bush show, then fell in love

Sometime last year, I remember seeing a photo of Patrick on Flickr and really liking his style but didn't follow up on him. Then this year, I saw randomly saw Tristan on YouTube and decided to get Wind in the Wires and that was that...

I knew him and his music this past summer,in 2008...I found an article on the web about the best records of 2007,and there was TMP;it made me curious and I went searching it,that was my first album by him,and the other ones. And ta-daa! the obsession began I think I've watched every single live video on YouTube, ahah. And then came the B-sides too. I'm very thankful to him cause his music helped me in a very bad period I was going through, really.Lycanthropy became one of the albums of my life. Sometimes I think it was fate...I had to "bump" into him.

The way I found him was actually really geeky. I found him more recently. I'm a fan of Death Note, and the character Mello. Someone on Livejournal made a Mello fanmix (basically, a listing of songs they thought went with the character), which had Tristan on it. I fell in love with the song, and Patrick's voice, and ended up finding and buying all three albums, and turning into a raving fan. This was a little over a year-and-a-half ago, so I'm pretty new.

I saw this picture in the internets spring 2005 It was even smaller than that. But it said Patrick Wolf. Wrote it up, went to a record store, bought both albums. Began with WITW, 1 minute into it and I knew, and hadn't finishet Lycanthropy when I got home but went straight to internet and booked a ticket for his show in Stockholm later that spring. Wish something would hit me like that again.

I was having a bad day at school and my best friend said he knew what would cheer me up and played the magic position in the 6th form for me. Then i went and downloaded the magic position, then wind in the wires and then lycanthropy before going out to buy the magic position searching for what felt like YEARS for WITWs in Belfast HMV and my (same) best friend bought lycanthropy to me for my 18th XD Now i can't get rid of him

I'm such a newbie... Saw him on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, just before TMP, I think. He had hair extensions in and it was all glittery, and he was wearing a red shirt with yellow braces and a dreamcatcher, and I loved it so much. I just sat there on the edge of my seat, staring at him twisting the extensions around his fingers, repeating, 'Patrick Wolf, Patrick Wolf,' over and over in my head. Bought TMP as soon as I had money, then begged and begged to order WITW and Lycanthropy online (Norwich HMVs never have much obscure stuff), then got obsessed. It's great when you find an artist that you HAVE to love - that's one of the many brilliant things about Patrick; people love him or they hate him, there's rarely indifference.

Good day all! My first post, although I registered some time ago already... I happened to receive an e-mail from a Mika mailing list when TMP came out, where he mentioned Patrick and his latest album (TMP). Curious as I was I downloaded it and loved it immediately. I then tried his other two albums, but these were a bit harder for me to swallow and Patrick faded a bit away for me.. Until I heard that he was making a new album so I picked him up again. Since I knew TMP as the back of my hand I decided to give the first two albums another chance.. and liked them As of then I bought his albums, pre-ordered his new album twice and bought the B-sides online (where possible). Thanks Patrick. I'm hooked

My first encounter with Patrick was in NME in about 2005, I saw an advert for the WitW CD and thought he looked really cool, but I didn't pursue it.
Then my friend made a "best of 2007" mixtape and the song "The Magic Position" was on it.
So I got all his albums............ and now I'm obsessed.

Mine was February 2007; I was watching TV and happened to flick onto the end of Newsnight Review, which he was performing 'The Magic Position' on. Then about a month or so later my best friend went, "Hey, have you heard that Magic Position song?" and we both went around singing it (wrongly I think) for ages, then she got the album and bought me it for my birthday and I just thought "WOW!"; we've been massive fans ever since! The first two albums followed, then we went to the November tour and were absolutely blown away; fantastic!
