Björk deserves her own thread doesn't she? So... has anyone else been to/going to any of the Biophilia shows? Or does anyone want to talk about anything else Björk-related? ;D

My copy is on its way, I've not listened to the leak so can't wait. I really wish the Manchester live disc was was not only on those ultra-limited edition bjork-shop only deluxe editions. Ah well, I'm sure there'll be a torrent of that soon.

I have the manual edition! I wasn't sure about buying it at first cos it was so expensive but I thought I'd regret it if I didn't (and it wasn't nearly as expensive as the ultimate edition!!!! ) Yeah, I loving having the live CD - it brings back memories of the show Don't worry I'm sure someone will leak it online. Did you go to any of the shows?

I haven't got Biophilia yet. But I really like what I've heard of it already. Erm and to end you talking to yourself in this thread I decided to finally write sth here To be honest Björk was kind of my musical awakening. She was the first musician I chose for myself to listen to (my parents are very into 60s 70s music, so there was always a lot of music played in our house when I was a child). In fact my mother brought around Björk's Debut one day and I tried it out. At first I thought it was very strange, but from listen to listen I liked it more and more. Björk then became my obsession. I listened to Debut so often, if it were a vinyl you couldn't listen to it anymore I never was one for collecting posters and other fan stuff, the music was what did it for me (and when you grow up in the country and don't have fast internet and no good record store at hand a new cd is already enough of a treat ). Post, Homogenic and Vespertine followed and were equally adored and played in my room while the rest of my family couldn't understand what I liked about her music. It really was the only music I was listening to for some time (while my classmates had just outgrown their fangirlism for the backstreet boys and turned to the likes of Eminem, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney Spears etc.). Once I lost my cd case with all my Björk cds on a schooltrip and was so sad until I was given it back the next day at school. Two girls from my class had found it and had listened to all of the cds and I was given them back with the sentence "it's very strange, but...if you like it" and that awkward expression of bewilderment in their faces...lol so yeah you could already tell at the tender age of 12/13 that I wasn't one for the mainstream music But my fascination for Björk didn't last when Medúlla and Volta came out. I got them later than they were released. I guess I was in some other musical phase around that time but I don't remember whether it was the one of classical music or the one of 60s and 70s music. So, anyways. I still listen to Björk from time to time and I should do so more often. It's just: Patrick Wolf has become my new musical obsession since last year and his music has even done more than Björk's music to me - he brought me back to pop music. Because before I discovered him I kind of had given up on pop music altogether. But back to Björk. I was never in one of her concerts, I think I would still be in danger of dying of excitement. But I guess I'll risk that the next time she comes to Germany... so blaaa...that was my rather lenghty, for the most part not-very-interesting "Björk and Me" story hope you enjoyed it ;D edit: whooops I forgot Telegram. OMG how I loved it from the first listen! erm and yes I also love Medúlla and Volta now...and the Selma Songs! Dancer in the Dark is one of the f*cking best movies of all times... gawd is there anything more beautiful than Oceania? www.tape.tv/musikvideos/Bjoerk/Oceania

Erm and to end you talking to yourself in this thread I decided to finally write sth here Haha thank you I didn't discover her music til last year when I saw the Comet Song on itunes one day. I'd heard of Bjork (but only her name - I didn't know anything about her) and I hadn't heard her music, so I decided to listen to it. I thought it was really strange and surreal, but I love strange music so I really liked it. I looked up some of her other music, ended up downloading Army Of Me, then I sort of forgot about Bjork for ages. Then maybe about February this year I had a very random dream involving meeting Bjork. The next day I had the urge to look up her music again and ended up falling in love with Hyperballad, Joga and Human Behaviour. So I downloaded her Greatest Hits album that night and bought all her other albums over the next few weeks. And now she's my third favourite musician, after Patrick and Owen. I like her music for the same reason I like Patrick's - it just seems so much more deep and meaningful than other music if that makes sense. Yeah, none of family or friends like her music, they don't like her voice for some reason (she has the most incredible voice!!!) But they don't have very good taste in music Yes I love Oceania too And Dancer In The Dark but it makes me depressed even though it's my favourite film ever! You should definitely go and see her if you get the chance, if you die of excitement at least you'll die happy Btw have you heard this song? (Don't ask me to spell it ) I have such an obsession with it www.youtube.com/watch?v=59JNgWkQUac&feature=relatedit starts at 2.45 - before that it's an interview in Icelandic (the video with just the song has been deleted)

oh I'd have thought you're a long time Björk fan it's really like all Björk fans say: you either hate her or love her and yeah I guess I know what you mean by meaningfull etc., but I can't phrase it better either today I bought the deluxe edition (for that incredible high price O.o), but I had a really hard time in the store because they also had the shiny gorgeous vinyl displayed...I couldn't decide which to take for ages...lol I didn't know that cover yet...as I said I mainly listened to her cds only. I didn't een bother to watch interviews or live videos or even the music videos which may sound strange but I guess the music always was the thing for me, I didn't need the artworksy stuff around it really...but I guess I'll try and catch up but erm yes it's a great cover! I haven't listened to Biophilia yet, was too busy today, I save it for tomorrow.

^oh cool! tell me what it's like when you tried it out I don't have any i-devices, but I'm so curious what it's like so, I've listened to it now several times and it's great! can't say more for now, I'm still trying to get my head round it, it really is as I hoped one of that rather complex björk albums I'm surprised though it is such a somehow peaceful album...okay maybe thunderbolt and a few other songs are exceptions, but still it's a kind of very calm and relaxing album...reminds me a bit of vespertine (well just the mood it gives you). the lyrics are so cool...haha pluto finally has some company in a way those lyrics...seriously they're giving me the shivers... my romantic gene is dominant and it hungers for union universal intimacy all embracing

I downloaded the app when it came out, but it doesn't work properly since my ipod's too old And then i had to delete it to make room for Biophilia since my ipod memory is completely full. When my ipod eventually breaks i'm buying one with a huge memory, then i'll get the app I think my favourite is Mutual Core (it was playing on Saturday just before Patrick went on stage!!!) I love the "this eruption undoes stagnation" bit where it gets all dramatic. Yeah I love those lyrics as well I also love the tesla coil in Thunderbolt (you can hear it much better in the live version though), it's such a cool instrument! What's in the deluxe edition?

Just saw this thread and googled her. Loving Cystalline, Is the rest of the album as pretty-sounding as that song?

Crystalline's the prettiest sounding song, but the whole album is beautiful It's very unique, it's all about the universe and nature - this describes it better than i can (it's the introduction to the app, narrated by David Attenborough!): It sounds kind of like something to educate kids about science and nature and music, but i think Björk wanted it to be like that, especially the app!!! But it is a beautiful album and very unique - i love it so much There's some really interesting instruments (i think i mentioned them all in my review of the live show earlier in this thread ) All Bjork's albums sound completely different (like Patrick's! so it's difficult to describe what her music's like. I'll post a video of Joga which is probably my favourite Björk song ;D

That song has just convinced me to download Biophilia, I'll go to HMV and get the cd when i can be bothered. No big on the App intro... I just really dislike David Attenborough, whenever i watch a nature program he's THERE!

Joga's not on Biophilia btw, it's an older song. But i'm glad you like it (well you must have good taste if you're a PW fan ) ;D If you want to get to know more of her songs you can look her up on youtube, which is how i got to like her music when i first discovered her. And i also listened to clips of songs on itunes. I think the intro's quite funny cos David Attenborough's voice makes it sound like a nature program or something! Haha
