hmm, it's sort of rust coloured atm!
(faded and in need of a root-touch up; it's usually patrick-esque when it's freshly dyed!)

I saw The Feeling on Tuesday for the 9th time ;D I've been listening to them since I was 13 - I love their music so much! I met them all again and they remembered me, I'm so happy they finally know who I am (and I was the only one they hugged when they left ) And next Saturday I'M GOING TO SEE PATRICK!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I had four gigs this month (Bombay Bicycle Club, Laura Marling, Patrick twice) which was AWESOME, but now it's tailing off again... Although I'm hopefully seeing Martyn Joseph (amazing folk singer who's depressing on record but great live) again in a week and half, and then me and my brother are seeing The Blanks (aka the a capella band from Scrubs) next month, because we're MASSIVELY cool kids One of guys on my course said to me, "Seriously, you always seem to be at gigs! Aren't you supposed to be doing a degree?" Well, yeah, but I'm definitely still in denial...

I'm going to see Andrew Bird next week I've only just discovered his music and i still don't know it very well so it'll be strange seeing someone i'm not completely obsessed with! But i'm excited Also The Feeling are playing a free gig near Newcastle and it is costing me a grand total of £27.30 to go - which is the cheapest English gig ever!!!!!! I didn't think i'd get to see them this summer so i'm very happy ;D And i'm also seeing the Gipsy Kings in the summer. And of course PATRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (Haha i just noticed the similarity to my post above with all the capital letters and exclamation marks and smileys for Patrick! But going to see Patrick does involve immense levels of excitement )

Andrew Bird was incredible!!! I wasn't a particularly huge fan but as soon as he walked on stage and picked up his violin i was completely in awe The first song was just Andrew with his violin, without the band and it was dark with smoke, and the violin was just so beautiful <3 I desperately wanted to film it and preserve the moment forever, but i couldn't bear to tear my attention away for even a second! When i was slightly less awestruck i managed to film quite a few songs though (i'll need to put them on youtube). The whole set was amazing, i was actually dreading the end. He played quite a few songs which i already really liked, including Effigy (It was quite funny though because i misheard him and though he said "this song's called Refugee" Then he said it was about a man in a bar who "spends a little too much time alone", and i thought that line sounded really familiar - then it dawned on me!!! : I thought it would be wonderful to meet him but i didn't really think i had any chance - i got the impression he was quite shy and probably tried to avoid meeting fans. When it finished i had 40 minutes til i had to leave for the last train home so i thought i may as well wait at the stage door, just in case. I'd just about given up hope when 5 minutes before i had to leave we saw one of the crew asking a taxi to go over to the other door, and we realised he was just about to come out!!! Then the guy beckoned us (there were a couple of other people waiting too) so we went over in disbelief and waited. A few minutes later Andrew came out He seemed quite shy and didn't really say much but he was so nice - he signed my setlist and let me get a picture with him I think i told him i was quite new to his music but i loved it now and i was going to buy all his albums! I'm still in awe that i managed to meet Andrew Bird without even trying very hard!!! And i haven't been able to stop listening to his music since, i really love it now. I spent the whole of yesterday in a state of post-gig bliss I think i might be a tiny bit in love with him... oh dear i'm so predictable! P.S. Sorry if i'm boring you all - Andrew Bird doesn't have a forum

^^^ Haha, no worries! I love it when you have a wonderful gig experience like that but hate it when you don't have anyone to get excited about it with Finally breaking up the gig drought that the rest of the year was beginning to look like: I'm seeing Bat For Lashes in October! Never seen her live before and I'm very excited, especially because I actually have someone to go with for a change, woo! Wanted to go and see Muse as well but a) the dates weren't that close to me and b) they were just SO expensive :/ The Live Dates page on Patrick's website has disappeared, so I'm crossing my fingers that this means it's being updated...

^^^ Haha, no worries! I love it when you have a wonderful gig experience like that but hate it when you don't have anyone to get excited about it with Yeah that's always my problem - i need to find some friends who like all the same music as me! The Live Dates page on Patrick's website has disappeared, so I'm crossing my fingers that this means it's being updated... Oh so they have! Really really hope it's UK dates this time... This is like what happens when we're waiting for exam results - when they're being put up the grades page disappears for a few hours and we know they're about to come! Haha i hope the system's not just messed up - i expect to wake up to new tour dates in the morning now!

I'd so like to go to more gigs, but tickets have become insanely expensive over here (thank you GEMA >:-( ) As well as train tickets...*sigh* Well, whatever I'll skip the great acts and just go watch the less known artists Catriona your Andrew Bird gig experience reminds me of me going to my first Patrick gig last spring in some respects Okay I already had listened to all of Patrick's music before the gig, but I still didn't expect what I did get to see. And I waited with some other fans I didn't know at all then and hey made a photo with Patrick, because that gig had made me the fangirl I hadn't been before...lalala...gigs are dangerous in a way ;D

Haha i don't think anyone in their right mind could go to a PW gig and not be converted to a fangirl! Yeah when i see someone incredibly talented live for the first time i can't help falling in love with them and their music ;D (Except normally when i've been to see someone for the first time i'm already obsessed with them, it just makes me even more obsessed ) And i'm so used to being a fangirl i can't resist waiting at the stage door I don't think i can afford to discover any more musicians for a while though, Andrew Bird is costing me rather a lot of money because i can't find any of his albums cheaply And there's already 5 or 6 musicians/bands i'd happily travel hundreds of miles to see, i can't afford any more!
