Woah, that's really pretty!
I'm seeing him tomorrow! I'm so excited. I haven't bought any chocolates or socks though. I requested some songs but I don't remember if they were the ones you have to get him stuff for though XD. I'll be there like, 2 hours before the gig. I reaaally hope we'll see him before it.
OH btw I listened to Heartland on Deezer and OMG. I felt a WAVE of good stuff lol. I don't know how to say this but wow it is amazing.

Ahh! You Londoners get Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon as openers! Lucky lucky!
I'm still kicking myself for not going to Mr. Muhly's show here in the fall.

Haaaaaaaaaaaa. The show was amaziiiing. I went to the venue reaaally early because I just couldn't stay at home because I was so excited. Soooo I caught a cold now but it was worth it. The show was GREAT. Sooo after the show we talked to Thomas and the bouncers said if you want to talk you'll have to go outside or else you go backstage with him. So we were like "oooh please take us backstage" but Thomas said no because of Owen but that he'd come outside with us. My friends went to the bar so I kinda lost him but then I talked to one of the bouncers and he was really friendly and said some people had got to meet Owen but he couldn't take us downstairs (the venue was actually underground). Anyway after some waiting he told me he could take me to see Owen! But he said "you only have 2 minutes!". So I got backstage and there was Owen, smoking with Thomas. And they were talking about this poem or something and I really felt like I was intruding. But then I said hi when they were done and started thanking Owen for the show and thanking him for playing the songs I had requested on the forums. Annd he was really nice, despite looking reaaaally tired at the beginning of the show the whole show was dynamic and GREAT. Oh and I talked to him about sheet music and guess WHAT. The Heartland sheet music is going to be PRINTED. AND SOLD. It's 200 pages long. I can't wait. Just as I felt the bouncer was going to get all impatient and I started rambling (so I was like "oh I'm sorry, I'm just rambling now" and Owen asked me how to say to ramble in french and I just said "ooh something like "dire n'importe quoi" "XD) I asked him if I could take a picture so the bouncer took a picture and then he was like "another one!" and I was a bit embarrassed but I did another one and I hugged Owen just before he took the picture. I was like "Ok, I'm gonna hug you now" XD. I really should have asked before actually doing it but I don't know WHAT went through my head. But it was ok he just laughed. Oh and Thomas gave me the set list! The one from Paris and the one from Hamburg (which was apparently a horrible show for them). And I talked A LOT with Thomas. He's so nice! It was really nice. Because I really felt small when talking to Owen, although he's nice at first he was smiling but then he got that expression on his face and I was like "ok maybe he's having trouble understanding me or I'm boring him or something" XD. Pictuuures! img638.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=dscn0573.jpg(I didn't post them directly here because I forgot to resize them and then it was going to stretch the page)

I have an overwhelming urge to meet Owen now, haha. But yeah, London tonight gets Dev Hynes, Sam Amidon and Nico fucking Muhly as special guests! I hope when Owen announces more dates for the March European tour the support is good.

Ahhh I love Owen so much. I'm going to see him a month from today in my own London.. London, Ontario, Canada. Sooo excited. It's a really small venue too and is usually used just for classical recitals and such, so I don't really know what the experience will be like. I hope my concert experience is as great as the rest of yours sounds, I would love to get a chance to meet him!

I'm still kicking myself for not going to Mr. Muhly's show here in the fall. if it's any consolation, they were fucking awful. HAHA. I wouldn't say awful, I think their music is just built on improv (well sam and nico anyway). I liked it when Sam played violin badly and screamed a bit. It made me laugh. I HOPE it was supposed to be funny, because then I quite liked it. That Dev guy, well he can play his music he's just bad at talking and it makes you feel bad for watching. I really liked the show, I've never seen Owen play and I don't think I could have expected any less, like immaculate playing (haha other than when he stopped because he had a dry throat). I think I'll definitely need to see him a few more times to really take it in, it's so fast it's quite hard to process it. But I have been listening to him for 4 years and this is the first time I managed to see him, so I think it would be hard to 'process' for me. edit: I forgot to say it was nice to meet a few wolfies

I really warmed to Dev actually. I've avoided seeing him actually play anything for 3 years now, and I went to his album launch. I found his bumbling stage banter quite endearing, maybe because I'm a bumbler when I try to speak about what I've done too so i could relate. musically he didn't exactly inspire me but he was alright. I liked Nico Muhly more than Sam...thing. He had a good stage presence and I was paying atttention more to what he was doing throughout.
Owen Pallett was really wonderful, and also fascinating. I've always wanted to see him using his loop pedal because that sort of thing makes me excited about music. I just wish I hadn't been so tired. I think I may have fallen asleep in one of his songs, because I came back to myself t the end of it and didn't know where I was or what I was doing. Maybe it was just an out of body experience.
p.s. Jade, me and chool agreed you are lovely

Did you guys watch the same Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon as the people on the Owen Pallett forum? There's been nothing from praise over there. One person said he even preferred them to Owen. Obviously I have no opinion as I wasn't there

Yeah I don't feel like his music was anything 'new' (dev) but there was a song he played on the organ that I liked quite a lot, no idea what it was because I find it hard to hear people speaking through microphones haha. Yeah I find his process as interesting as his music, it must have taken him so long to master his looping skills. I saw him counting or doing something when he was setting up? And touching the buttons on the pedal. Very intriguing. And haha, aww, thank you. Me and me agreed that you two are lovely I was so hungry when I got home, that talk of pasta really made my tum grumble. I held out until the morning and then had some coco pops.

Wow the Union Chapel gig looked awesome! Saw a video on youtube =). And yeah I had a lot of fun at the Paris gig . I got to know what the whole "taking 6 trains in one day" (when I saw that I was like "WHAT?!" XD) that Owen wrote on his Twitter thing was about XD (they missed their TGV from Germany to Paris so they had to take 5 trains to get to Paris on time). I was seeing Owen for the first time so I did not look at the pedals during the concert (interesting that you guys looked ). I looked at his hands. And his face. I noticed that most of the time he was looking at Thomas, but that most of the time, Thomas did not look back at him. Which kinda frustrated me XD. Because I do that too, when I play with someone else and they never look back. Also, they messed up on Lewis Takes Action, which was quite funny, and Owen's bow went flying during The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead XD. And something didn't get recorded I think that was on Song song song. I love it when he messes up XD. He looked really tired when they were putting everything in place. But then when he played it was dynamic and just awesome.

I can't speak about the London show obviously, but I saw Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon (with Doveman who was of questionable talent), open for FF a couple years ago and it was actually spectacular. Sam Amidon can be a little daunting, I think... not the voice you'd expect to come from him, but Nico was incredible and hilarious in the in betweens. If FF hadn't been so so so beyond incredible on that particular night I would have easily said their set was better.

I've been craving it for over 24 hours now! It was so nice to see everyone. It reminded me of old wolfie days where we'd stand or sit together. Last night what just what I needed. I wasn't overwhelmed by Sam or Dev but I liked them and I found Nico fascinating. Seeing Owen's set was amazing though, he was so good.

Sam Amidon? I have heard his albums, and I find him pleasant if not incredibly same-y after long.
I am still cross about missing Sir Pallett. I was under the impression he was to be in the baybay in February. I have sea urchins for eyes, I think.

I think the Pallett-man put on a good show but the sound was a bit so-so from time to time. I really very much liked Sam Amidon and Nico Muhly, both apart and together. I liked the sort of mix between one of them being sort of a jester while the other one mainly a piano virtuoso. Plus that Sam man has rather good lungs.
Also, it was nice to meet a good gang of wolfboarders - Sibz and Jade (and Meryl) to my left, Chool and Liz to my right.
