SO, I still have to watch Anna's film and comment on it, which I am planning on doing a.s.a.p because it looks really good, and I don't want this film club to fail. However, it's meant to be my turn for picking a film this week, and I'm very overrun with coursework deadlines and such at the moment, so would it be okay if I swap weeks with the next person on the list? 5) frenger 6) Rhipeat Frenger left the board, so Rhi, is that okay with you? I want to devote appropriate levels of care and attention to my film thread when I do make it

Maybe we should make the film club every two weeks? I'm finding it difficult at the moment to find time to watch the films and maybe it would give people more of a chance to watch and discuss them rather than every week?

I like Dot's idea.
And I also don't want to be the current film if it does die.

Possibly that would be a good idea, yes Or say, it doesn't have to be every week on the dot, but leave it to the discretion of the person whose turn it is next, like if the previous film hasn't been watched much yet, then leave it a while.

I'd say maximum 2 weeks. Alterable 1-2 weeks are good. It should depend on how discussible a film is.
I watched Is Anybody There? but it didn't make me want to make a statement. Probably I'll write something little about it tomorrow. Also, I want to watch Brick and find out whether I'm in the group that likes it or not

I promise I will watch Brick when I have time!
Also, is it okay if I start my film thread next Friday?

I saw 'Kontroll' yesterday, Hungarian film. Has anyone seen it? It was really interesting but massively intense. Just putting in out there in case I do one in the future. Would like to pick one that's not been watched by all.

^ since years that's one of my absolute favourite films and if ever the day would come when I had to choose one(haha.. I'm not even on the list) that would have been my choice. I love this film so much. I would watch it again at any time.

It's quite different to anything I've seen in a looooong time. Really surreal, sort of scary and disgusting but also moreish. ANYWAY I WON'T go on about it, but maybe I'll get to do this one then we can chat about it excitedly

as we have a wolfboard film club I thought it would make sense to post it here instead of in off-topic-thread..
so, BURTONisation. Really, does every good story need a Burton makeover?! Yesterday I read that his next target after Alice is The Addams Family and I don't appreciate that. They are good as they are. I watched the old original version of Charlie and the chocolate factory - it was good. I must confess that Burton's aesthetics fit better in our time right now but the story is still the same. I haven't seen Alice yet but I really want to enjoy it in 3d. I hope I won't be disenchanted. Okay, back to the Addams. What will it look like? Johnny Depp as Gomez and Danny Elfman does the score? If so... sad and boring. I adore Elfman's film music but I know that he said 'no' to creating it for the original Addams Family so, I hope he won't do it just because there appears the name Burton somewhere. Elfman does the best soundtracks(Edward scissorhands for example), no question, but it's not necessary that he does everything. Shaiman did an awesome job. I would consider myself as a Burton-fan but yeah.. not everything needs to be 'burtonised' - and especially not The Addams!
what's your opinion?

I have no opinion on the Addams Family because I never saw it, but I agree he needs to stop fucking with classics Edwards Scissorhands was great, Ed Wood was great, Corpse Bride was great, Sleepy Hollow was great. Why can't he go back to proper adaptations or his own ideas and actually choose a mood and scheme to fit each project and not this bloody day glo checks and purples that drenches everything he ever does? I like Johnny Depp a lot but I fear Burton's corrupting him.

The Addams are burtony enough, to be honest. Something 'gothic' doesn't need a 'goth' make over.
I am also sick of Tim Burton films starring Johnny Depp with a Danny Elfman score. Imagine being an actor or a composer in Hollywood.

Argh, I guess this is me! But I really don't want to do it until I've watched Rhi's film, because although it's had a fair few comments, I do actually want to see it. Which is something I shall aim to do tomorrow. Then I will make my thread, although I haven't entirely decided on my film yet. It'll be either Freedom Writers, or A Streetcar Named Desire, any preferences?
