i'd argue that insomnia is worst felt if one lives in the pacific time zone, cause either no one is awake, or they're just starting the next day and haven't time for one puny californian's late night rants. i don't have a problem with insomnia at the moment, i've the opposite where i'll be dead-asleep for 12-17 hours. it happens on average one night a week. its kind of disruptive. & re. what clare posted: i too dig that academic explaination of stuff. and its interesting and makes sense, and i think its bullshit. but whatever

I've been awake since 4 AM (it is now 6) because of my roommate's ALARM on her PHONE that goes off REPEATEDLY, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I keep yelling at her to turn off the motherfucking alarm on her motherfucking phone but she just mutters, "oh, yeah, yeah, sorry" and then falls asleep again before turning it off. Meanwhile, I'm lying awake, waiting for her loud, obnoxious-ass ring tone to start blaring again, and even when it doesn't I can't fall asleep. Because I am then being kept awake by my SEETHING RAGE, which keeps building and building until finally I just rant about it on the wolfboard. We will have YET ANOTHER talk in the morning when she wakes up, and then tomorrow night if her alarm goes off between the hours of 12 and 8 AM, I will chuck her phone out of the motherfucking window. ETA: IT JUST WENT OFF AGAIN. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO *** THIS GIRL.

That was almost me last night, except then I realized my papers weren't due until Thursday and Friday. That gives me a few more nights of procrastinating...

I've been awake since 4 AM (it is now 6) because of my roommate's ALARM on her PHONE that goes off REPEATEDLY, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I have this problem! I only ever notice it on a Thursday, when I have to be up at 7.45. But at 7 every morning, without fail, I'm woken up by his alarm...which he doesn't turn off for up to an hour. I am not exaggerating. On Wednesday night I put my ipod next to my bed so at 7 I can block out his alarm. Also, since joining uni, I've become partial to naps. Usually, on a Thursday, to make up for the lost hour in the morning, I'll fall asleep at 12 for three hours after a three hour lecture and then from 5-7 after a seminar. Then that evening I'm not tired, so I'll fall asleep at 2 or 3 in the morning, wake up late for my Friday lecture and almost miss the bus. Every week.

My friend spent most of today going on about how she was tired from "only 5 and a half hours of sleep". Lightweight, dear me...

Haiiii guyz It's 3:27. Essay due on Wedsday, but it need printing Tuesday (or tonight) night. I also need to be up early tomorrow (or today) because my phone's being delivered and sometimes the postman comes at half 8 ish, so I'd need to be up at 7 so I'm not being seen in public all smelly and blinky and pyjama-y. So I thought rather than rushing up tomorrow (or today) morning and then stressing tomorrow (or today) night when the essay isn't quite done, I would just pull an all-nighter to finish the essay, still be awake to collect the phone, hopefully finish the essay off soon after, print it, hand it in, sleep the day away, and then get up in the evening for serious revision. So I'm a self-inflicted (and bringer of boring stories) Wolfboard insomniac. 4:48am, just back in room from fire alarm. freezing cold weather and sexy firemen good wake-up nudge. luckily happened just before I started making a cheese toastie or I would have blamed myself and ending up falsely confessing.

Hello all nighter! Hello again! How are you? Doing fine? That's great. I know this paper isn't due until Thursday, but it needs to get done tonight and tomorrow night because I can't do anything Wednesday. Wednesday night is the final critique for this semester. I need to reserve Wednesday night for existential crises. Hooo boy.

wheeeeeeeeeee i'm awake. its only 1am but it doesn't look like i'll be sleeping soon. and i'm not sure i've a chance of being productive. although i just thought & wrote about charity for a little bit. but that was for publication on internet, not for real life. earlier though in real life i finished my book. again, that does not benefit my school situation... bummer. um i think maybe my words aren't running right? in other news ITS COLDER THAN A WITCHES TEET. i mean, for california at least. my toes are froze, and my nose is froze, and my ... ...prose is froze: no more body parts to rhyme. so this cold, i went out for to smoke a stogey-woge and i wasn't midway before my hands turned purple and my teeth set to chattering and i was chilled even despite my fabulous rabbit fur coat. well in 7 days i'll be in INNNNDIA where weather -- temperature-- is in the 70s. oh shut up, you.

3:33 AM? How did that happen? Well, at least I've been spending my time productively. Not by, say, watching episodes of House and listening to King Crimson on repeat.
Oh wait. That's exactly what I did.

for a no-nonsense solution to insomnia, might i suggest restricting the flow of blood to the brain as needed?

it's only 11:53 but my projected time of sleep is probably 3 am. because i am very distracted and this thing is due tomorrow. all i feel like doing is dancing. 3 am isn't bad. then i'll sleep til 7, get up, make lunch, go to school early to print it off, come home, sleep for a couple hours, ideally go to the gym and sleep more when i return if i'm not going to the movies (yay movies!).
my last writing assignment type thing took until 5. that was disgusting. to be fair, every half hour i stopped to hop around my room. caffeine makes me want to MOVE. i get mentally tired, not physically.
deity, please give me the self control to turn off the islands and buckle down.

I know what you mean very well! I get incredibly sensitive and emotional when I am deprived of sleep. This has caused many embarrassing crying fests in high school. Luckily this managed to get me a B in photography.

sleep deficiency makes me emotional too.
Also, where was this thread?! It's good.
eta: and I could need it almost every night as I can't sleep or am working on my [insert word of hate here] film music analysis. Now Edward is almost finished and I listen the intro of The Addams Family - both are among the best film intros ever. I really like them but I could need a break. time 4:47am (oh and as it's summertime now someone stole one hour of sleep yesterday!)
