Well i got the album today and heard it for the first time and I absolutely love it!
Though I'm curious because I seem to remember Patrick mentioning something about subliminal messages in the album, and looking at the booklet there seems to be a lot of extra words/lyrics that are barely audible or don't appear to be there at all.
There are a few little bits like "* The thieves are come *" at the start of A&E and "(Feral in my fear)" in The Secret Garden.
Theres also a bit written in a foreign language (austrian?) during X (The Kiss) that I can just hear if I listen very closely.
Strangest of all, there seems to be a very large section, about 50 lines, of words/lyrics between The Secret Garden and Get Lost that don't appear to be anywhere on the record as far as i can hear.
Also didn't Patrick mention that Finale wasn't really an instrumental and contains subliminal messages? I can't hear anything else (apart from what sounds like a cat being trodden on at the very end), though the words "And So Be It" are written at the end of all the words/lyrics.
Anyone else discovered anything odd?

I read it as narration. The song lyrics themselves seem to be in inverted commas, suggesting that's what the 'character' is saying / thinking. There are similar bits of - I guess - poetry between the other 'seminal' songs. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

at the end of get lost you can hear patrick say 'stop' to a band member or something and one of the instruments stop that was on the leak though - not sure if its on the real thing

"Av,mi Romani mal Pawdel dur chumbas Av kitane mansa?" from after the magpie lyrics is a test for a pendulum:
Is he/she the right one for me?
Using a pendulum(at least 7 inches in length) & an article that connects you to him/her. (hankerchief, watch, ring, photograph, letter, article of clothing etc..) Simply sit with the object in front of you and hold the pendulum over it. Hold the pendulum so that it is suspended about an inch or so above the object. Concentrate your thoughts on the person in question. Is he/she the right one for you? Think of both their good and bad qualities. Then recite the following three times in all:
"Av,mi Romani mal Pawdel dur chumbas Av kitane mansa?"
As you say the verse, the pendulum will begin to swing . If it swings back and forth(towards and away from you) then the answer is "yes",that person is right for you. If it is swinging in a circular motion instead, then clockwise also means "yes". If swinging side to side or counter-clockwise than "no" they are not the one for you. ------------- I didn't hear the lyrics in the kiss, hmm i will listen out...
In the finale if you listen out you can hear him sing "and so be it" but each word is long and spread out and so blends into the music

Ohh! So that's what that strange-languaged verse means!! Thank you for the explaination, that is quite interesting!
And yeah, I kind of hear something at the end of Get Lost too... I can't really make out what it is though but it sounds like Patrick shouting something to someone haha.

Lol I'm going to have to listen out for the shout now!

Here is what that gypsy phrase roughly translates to:
come my gypsy friend over the hills so far away won't you come with me?
(Someone on this forum translated it previously on another thread, so credit to them)

oh my word, i've never noticed any of these things before. i've actually never sat down and read through the magic position insert properly before now, and it's so weird hearing all the little things he's put in, especially 'Av vi romani..' but wow

The "hidden lyrics" are what really pull the album together. It's a story, a beautiful fairytale that I love to read.

He sings the extra lyrics(the ones about grandparents) in 'The Stars' Live. Maybe he meant to put them in the songs, but they wouldn't fit or something?

I have three ways i listen to TMP.
1) Just listening, where i can read as well.
2) Dancing to it
3) Listening and reading the lyric sheet.
When i dance and read the lyric sheet, it makes me appreciate the album more. I enjoy the words and lyrics that make 'no sense' in the lyric sheet, it makes it seem mythical and interesting. I really like the words "two miles and a quarter on a broken bicycle" before Augustine, it really sticks in my head for some reason.

He said in a BBC interview that there was subliminal messaging in Finale, and that it was his way of sending his love out to the world.
and it's scary as hell if you listen back to The Kiss and hear the woman's voice saying the Gypsy chant.

One of my freinds pointed out the drum beat at the end of finale sounding like overture, making you want to listen again. Im not sure if its just a coincidence or not though!

i did that! despite the fact that i had just listened to the songs, it sounded fresh when i went back to overture from finale. i have no idea what the subliminal message in finale would be though.
