i kind of feel guilty when i am hearing it, because the lyrics are so, i don´t know how to discribe it, well intense? and i guess honest that it makes me shiver. when i heard it first i was so shocked that i didn´t want to listen to it again and now i still feel sorry and as i said guilty because it´s so much more than just an entertaining song, it makes me fell horrible i don´t know how he can possily sing it infont of an audiece

I love this song... Its really one of my fave of the earlier stuff. I dont know what it is, its just such a powerful and poignant song, and regardless of how it can be interpreted i do think its Patricks vision at one of its many many peaks. I mean, how many other artists would a) be brave enough to write and think nevermind record and play a song like this? and b) be great enough to create an amazing piece of songwriting and also get into other characters? In my opinion not many.
I realise why some would find it creepy or whatever, because pretty much everyone i have played it to agrees with that statement or think its a little sick to sing about child abuse or whatever they think its about. I think its just the first verse and the last few lines that make them get all freaky about it, spesh the whole 'cum' thing, but in my opinion its a genious song and i love it. It a part of one of the best albums i own, and so its great!!! ha ha.

This song is very uncomfortable, but that's not a bad thing! You have to feel something when you here this song, that's what's so great about it. I had difficulties listening to it for a while, it takes some time to get used to. But eventually I realized just how amazing this song is.

Probably won't get many in agreement with this but "Childcatcher" always reminds me of Marylin Manson's "Antichrist Superstar" album, back before he became a media whore. Not so much on the surface, but in the multi-layered, intelligent structure, raw, passionate style and the way that it's made deliberately difficult to listen to forcing the listenener to think about and dwell more on the effect it has on them. I'll admit i'm a fan of Manson's early work but I do think Patrick does it better in one song than Manson managed with the entire album.
It is one of my favourite, and easily one of the most memorable i've ever heard.

it's quite a dark track, i think we all agree with that. not only because of the intense, sexually-charged lyrics but also we have to thank the eerie music, perfectly moody. even the singing adds to the disruptive and uncomfortable atmosphere: you can almost hear patrick in pain as he goes through the words he sings.

I get the exact same feeling about the Manson-album, and this song. It makes me feel uncomfortable and filthy and whatever, but at the same time I like it... But, maybe that's just weird

I really really like it, superficially because of what he does with his voice. All the strange glottal stops and pitch changes, it reminds me of what Regina Spektor does ("and it's con-TAY-ger-urh-urh-*retch*-us") and I love that in music, it makes it a million more times fun.
And I love how the music's all discordant and inconsistent and the style and speed and intruments and everything seem to speed up and slow down and change sporadically.
And that little bit that sounds all medieval and happy.
It's definitely one of the greatest of his songs imo. Male equivalent of Amanda Palmer's Missed Me?
I googled the lyrics ages ago when I'd read about it but not heard it and forgot to close the page. Got a right bollocking off my mum who was more than a little creeped out when she found it.
