I read the interview in Careless Talk Costs Lives (Everett True's tasteless vanity project, which I bought on the count of it featuring a review of a friend of a friend's gig/CD, and it was printed on nice paper), which lead me to having a sneaky download of some of the songs from the EP - namely 'A Boy Like Me' and 'Pumpkin Soup', both of which I adore...
I ordered Lycanthropy soon after, and had to sit through the release date being put back several times before I managed to get hold of it - it blew me away, and was never far from my CD player for months and months afterwards...
So, how did you hear about Patrick Wolf?
Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I was ordering a cd from amazon and started looking through the 'customers who bought music by so-and-so also bought music by these artists...' links and finally came across Lycanthropy. I listened to a couple of the audio clips then downloaded a few tracks - 'London', 'A Boy Like Me' and 'Peter Pan'. I really liked it so i bought the album the next day.

Decided to listen after Playlouder went on and on and on and on and on and ON about him. Turned out they were right! Hooked ever since.

I saw his new CD cover (recently) on Amazon's upcoming releases list and thought- "who is this child singer?" (b/c he looks like a KID on the cover!). Anyway, did some investigation online. First found the vid for "To The Lighthouse" but it was the new video that really struck me.

I heard about him from my sister Julia and our friends. They played Lycanthropy once (they always get to choose , but I'm glad they did that time), and I thought it was really good, so I bought it. Its strange that we all like his stuff, because our tastes are very varied.

I found out about Patrick when Michael posted about him on the Popjustice messageboard. He looked really interesting, and I knew I had similar taste in music to Michael, so I bought Lycanthropy a short time later and was hooked.

it was in the beginning of 2004, when lycantrophy was re-released. I read a critic in one of my favourite german music magazines and decided to buy it. I 'll never regret it!

I got a music tip from an internetfriend in Holland. After that I´m caught in the hands of Mr Wolf. I listened to Lycantrophy from morning til bedtime for 2 months. And I´m still not tired of it.
The music has something that grips your heart from the deepest.....
Thank you Jeno for the tip and Patrick for the music..

well, Bjork had this Army of Me [UNICEF Charity Record] released, which has many many "remixes" of her Army of Me song, and you could hear bits of each on her website.
One of them were by Patrick Wolf, and when I heard it I knew I had to find out more bout him...and I did! That was just last may!! Seems like so long ago, I cant remember life before Patrick's music!

I was looking at mp3's to download and stumbled upon 'A Boy Like Me', and my Patrick love was born. Still remains one of my favourite tracks, hopefully i'll see him play it live one day.

i read the musikexpress (german music magazin), and there is always a cd with some songs in it... once there was the libertine on it... well, one boring weekend i decide to copy about 10 of these cd's on the computer... and so the libertine ended up on my iPod, where i somehow discovered it... the next day i bought wind in the wires... then a week or two after buying the cd my brother told me, that patrick would be playing in the city, where i live... so i went on that gig (forced my brother to come with me, lol) and since then i really love his music (last may)... soon afterwards i bought lycanthropy, too...

I was going to Lowlands and then someone mentioned she would go see Patrick Wolf, so looked at his description and his picture was interesting. I downloaded Wind in the Wires and loved it and ran into the city to buy it. Then I went on a quest to find Lycanthropy.

A boring afternoon in December, I sat in my FUCKING fdfghjkKITCHEn doing the crossword in the local paper and my eyes fell on an article on the opposite page. It was about him and I immediantly felt I had to listen to him. I've got the article somewhere, I'll scan the picture at some point - it's adorable. If I have the time, I could translate the article too. Would you love me then?

not really sure how he slipped under the radar (which reminds me that i need to take out a subscription for under the radar magazine, but i digress). i am sure i saw the name around, god knows i saw his picture EVERYWHERE cos people liked them for their avatars. mind, i didn't know it was him at the time.
...
right, vic mcglynn played the libertine on her show and i thought it was fantastic. contemplated why they don't play more of this sort of thing often. never forgot about it either. he had a fantastic voice and played the violin. the beginning of a fantastic musical love affair. after that, started doing research as i tend to do. when i finally had a face to put with the name, i thought a. he totally does not look what i had expected b. i bet he would make a good character in a dennis cooper novel c. if larry clark saw that cover of lycanthropy, he would have a hard-on for two months straight and try to put him in a movie. fucking perv.
those were the amusing things, anyway. but yeah, i was pretty well sold first track onwards and bought everything released on every conceivable format. i.am.a.dork. it was one of those rare times where i would buy an album solely on the strength of one song. best decision made all year long. it's been very good for the soul having his music around, it may have even saved my life in a way.

I actually discovered Patrick quite late on. I'd read reviews and articles about him when he was first entering the music world but I didn't take it any further.
I got an e mail of forthing coming titles that needed reviewing from a PR company (to do with my webzine) and saw WITW was on there so I said yes. Totally blown away by the album and was hooked ever since.
