Patrick definitely is no longer a lycanthropy boy... I wonder what his next step will be; I mean, in his early twenties he seems to have this look in his eyes of an old person. One more thing; take a look at Bjork's video for "pagan poetry" (it's on the official website) and pay attention to the second part of the clip. See the resemblance?

I found the video pretty blah and fey. Wish we'd seen more Cornwall in it and Patrick doing more than touching himself (and exposing his way scary vertebrae ). Whatever...the song's still one of the best things he's done.

Ah, thanks for that link. Mucho appreciated.
What other vids of Patrick are out there, does anyone know? I have To The Lighthouse and a live performance of Teignmouth.

I shall help you spamming, and I want to hear it 10 times a day ... I've sent an email to TMF (http://script07.tmf.nl/scripts/homepage/contact.php) and the dutch MTV (http://www.mtv.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=41) but I still need to tell The Box (http://www.thebox.nl/index.php?action=show_contact) that the video should be in their playlist... but you know, the thing is, either Tomlab or Team Wolf has to send the video to TMF, MTV or The Box, because otherwise they just won't have any video to play ...

I think it's really interesting because I love the video for the very reason that he's so thin. The fact that he is exposing himself when he is not the media's image of the 'perfect' male really strikes me. I remember being awed when I first saw the video by what I saw as its inherent defiance; Patrick is showing himself as exactly who he is, no concealer or makeup, not pretending to be anything or anyone he is not. I think that's beautiful.
It's also probably because I don't see him as unhealthily skinny--he doesn't look like he has an eating disorder, and he's so clearly full of life, the furthest thing from a corpse or a skeleton. My favorite part of the video is the shot of his back where he's bending over, so that your eyes are attracted to the curve of his spine. Again, beautiful, in my opinion.

Indeed. Some people are just naturally thin no matter how much they eat, like me the boyfriend just said.

I was very curious to see the video from the snippits i saw on the web and when i finally found the full version i was pretty disapointed. The look of the video is very good but it seems that's all the video has to offer. I am not looking for a "concrete" concept but something to justify the design besides the fact that WITW is a dark song so we get to see Patrick Wolf's exposed body in flashing lights. Someone mentioned Bjork's "Pagan Poetry" video so i will use this as a contrast to PW's video to make my point. (if this doesn't seem interesting for you, you may stop reading here ) Bjork in my eyes, is one of the few artists who accompenies her amazing and totally unique music with matching videos. She creates such an acurate connection between her music and her visual side like no other artist i can think of (and i am a HUGE music video lover - its a great medium that is losing its grace unfortunatly). Back to the subject at hand. I can obviously start rambling on and on about both videos but so not to exhaust anyone with more words i'll make it short and simple. "Pagan Poetry" is about exposure, eroticism, "giving yourself up" to someone and being vulnerable. All these subjects are portreyed in the video in different aspects. Bjorks exposed body (armpit hair and all ), the way she sings and acts in the video, the body piercings and of course the ever-so-subtle sex scenes that are embeded in the video. On the other hand we've got "WITW" video. I understand the song to be about natures wild and savage side in all its glory and at the end being harnessed and restrained. I can go on and on about this song but i fear i will get lost and not make my point so back to the video aspect - apart from the song being "dark" and the video being "dark" i don't feel that any of the aspects that i see in the lyrics come to play in the video, besides when patrick as on the cliff. I am sure someone will argue that we see patrick's exposed skinny boney body as it is supposed to be and with out any make up and thus portraying the wild sid of nature. If this is the case, i think the director didn't stress this aspect enough or even make an fitting connection between the song and visual side. There needs to be more substance, in my opinion. They got an amazing look for the video, i'll give them that, but that great look needs a conceptual skeleton to hold it up (and not just patricks boney body).

If I remember well, the concept is Patrick Wolf posing for a photo shooting while is mind is wandering and remembering his stay in cornwall and how free and close to nature he felt then... well, something around those lines. And the video was actually shot by a photographer: Directed by the renowned photographer ‘Toyin’. This collaboration is second to none, and we really do feel in it, the bare bones of Wolfs haunting lyrics, as if we really are exposed to the Cornish elements such as Patrick was that night of his nocturnal stroll.

actually shot by a photographer: Well, the best video directors have started as photographers or are photographers first and then video directors. anyway, if that is the concept, its still lacking a basic essence that the song has and the video hasn't. as i said before, i can go on and on about this, by i think my point is clear. Thanks Anne for the link. here's a link to a shot introduction to Toyin. does the first picture look familiar? corporate.gettyimages.com/marketing/m07/Cannes_Seminar/usa/26Toyin.asp#

Or maybe we could all just step back and admit that the video was about Patrick Wolf being hot, and mostly naked, and that the entire thing was a sensual play in order to turn you on. I don't really know what the problem is, and why the video can't just be accepted as the sex object that it is. Personally, my favourite part is where Patrick stops being such a naked boy, and is by the cliffs. I like that part best, because I love the outdoors....cliffs and sea.
