i asked patrick about it in holland and he was kinda like "lots of my friends get drunk and passed out all the time and and it's pretty funny, but whatever, that had nothing to do with getting rid of my drummer. Zach is more of a songwriter and he's not got his heart in drummer." My reaction to that was a bit fishy, i've never known patrick to like, have a bad ear, but i fucking hate the new drummer - he used to be in a band (a very good band) called morton valance, but got kicked out (I'm told because he was too crap) - patrick said he was brazillian and that gave him some intresting rythem and stufff...i didn't disagree with him or anything, i might be wrong, but from astoria, and way moreso holland, the drummer is awful...it's pretty hard to drum along to patrick wolf song, but zach managed to find a way, and like, seeing him drum along to blackbird live the first time he heard it, or the improvisation over bloodbeat, he was fucking ace it seemed... It really upsets me about zach, seeing all of the diffrent videos about it...in Holland patrick's set was not really on par, he didn't show up to the first free little pre-show show, that i was looking forward to lots and lots, beacuse he was too tired (said the festival), and the show was, a word i never ever though i'd use to describe a patrick wolf set, kinda lackluster and dull...it really really made me feel down...the band was missing and patrick was not so much, into it... However, it really really cheered me up and made me feel very happy when i met him breifly afterwards, didn't really say that much to him, but he is such a...i dunno...great person...or something...ah fuck it, i just sound like i'm bragging or something

wow even aside of what he did regarding zach that was seriously horrible. his whole rant about god and everything.... he is not a pretty drunk, not at all. i hope this side of patrick doesn't keep showing beacuse it's really really unattractive.

Ok, so the drummer thing was wrong, but so far I haven't seen anything he said as bad. So he doesn't believe in God. So what? Many people don't and they have every right to say it, just as people have every right to make it very well known that they love Jesus.

It wasn't really all THAT terrible, but it is just a bit dissappointing to fans who look up to him. Not to be relentlessly defensive of Patrick, but I think this has always been a problem amongst the fandom, too; I imagine as a result of Patrick not having done that many interviews early on in his career, a lot of people have been too quick to paint their own portraits of him. No one could ever live up to this fantastical elf that people so frequently seem to view Patrick as, yet certain people always seem surprised when he does something 'human'. Again, just sayin'... Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Things become ugly when people have to live up to so many expectations or feel they've been put in boxes which don't really fit their characters. Patrick is probably beating himself up enough already. Yes, he cracked. I say leave it out and focus on the musical merit.

Hmm. I still don't see what he was saying that was so awful. He's already said many of those things before, even in songs.

Sorry, I'm going to throw more shit on the shit on Patrick pile cause I need to vent and bitch. I really love his music (obviously why else would I be here) but he has always irritated me in interviews from the sappy, self-conscious, "I love the birds and nature and would love to just lie beneath the stars on a boat and be away from blah blah blah" cutesy babble to this drugged out oh so trendy glitter whore hanging out with Kelly Osbourne and all these obnoxious scenesters. I just try to ignore most interviews with musicians I like cause I end up getting disappointed.

In that interview from when he was 14 he was sporting glitter (was he not?) so I wouldn't say he's just jumping on a trend there. And as far as Kelly Osbourne goes, I don't think you can judge him being friends with certain people because they're "scenesters" ... give me a break.

Poor Patrick, now this will be online to haunt him for a very long time. I think it's not that bad though. The interviewer shouldn't have put this interview online in my opinion. I would hate to see footage of drunken philosophies with friends online! I'm sure I sound just like him 'love rules, room with a cherry tree, sex, do as i say muhahaha' The drummer should just have drummed because that's what they pay him for.

I think I shall just keep my mouth shut on this one, because I have absolutely nothing nice to say about that.

the interview in itself was a funny, drunken piece of videotape. it was not good journalism, definitely not. it was just a drunken patrick with his ugly headband (note, a personal opinion of mine) and i found it deeply heartwarming to be honest. then there was the second part with the hitting and firing and it made me go "WHATTT?" and "heyyy....wait" but then again many things done by human beings do that to me. drummers should drum thats true, but he (patrick) could have been nicer to him. alot. PS: "english guys are assholes don't ever sleep with them" wow what did that have to do with anything.

It's interesting how many people have painted a fairytale image of Patrick. Just as interesting that I haven’t perhaps. I often have done things similar with musicians in the past.
I don't have much care for the drunk interview. However if I was at that performance. I'd have felt pretty deflated and possibly walked out. It was all a bit tragic, with them so drunk and a drummer possibly on something. Unfair on Patrick that the footage is being spread around like it is though. He works hard enough to entertain people all round the world, and this will linger around and could continue to hurt some of his fans faith in him. Real shame that. Wonder if Patrick would be surprised if he read peoples reactions.
Really though, I don’t think it’s much of a big deal.

honestly my heart sank after watching that . I know he's a human being but he acted totally out of control and unprofessional IMO. As much as I adore Patrick, the whole while I was wincing for the drummer, and like I was even hit. I don't care what the drummer was "doing" (or not) to provoke that sort of violence but it ended up just making Patrick look ridiculous and irresponsible for doing it. Whether he cares or not he has a pretty young and impressionable fanbase. Still I'm in love with his music and will always be (no matter what his behaviour). That will never change

wow even aside of what he did regarding zach that was seriously horrible. his whole rant about god and everything.... Yeah. When you have opinions on things like religion, it's fine to voice them, but you can't do it in a way that might offend some people. You gotta have consideration, you know? But then again he was drunk and therefore not thinking properly. Which is why, like Oats said, I do feel sort of bad that he's got this whol drunk and bad moment on footage and on the internet for all to see. Everyone seems to be worrying a bit about him, with this and that new blog... I mean, it's not a LOT of evidence, so we can't be sure, but just in case I'd like to say that I really really do hope that he is happy and alright, and if he's not, I equally hope that he feels better.
