Welcome Stephane What does it mean you do video-games for a living? Programming or testing?

Hi Jessie, Niwo and Catwolf, thanks for the warm welcome!
I'm a game designer, which is kinda like a director for movies. I can't even explain it properly to my mum after all these years! Basically it's everything related to the player's experience: how levels are made, what are the rules, how to make them accessible and understandable to the player, how controls are designed... I studied programming first, then 3D, animation, and game-design.
As for Patrick's shows, I've seen him play 3 times in Paris over the years (did have a chance to meet him when he played La Maroquinerie last year), once at Glastonbury, and once at the Palladium.
Palladium was an incredible night indeed, I'd say it's one of the 5 best gigs I've seen in my so-far short but concert-filled life!

That sounds like an interesting job Yeah it was definitely the best gig i've ever been to - it was the most perfect moment when the curtain lifted and he started playing Overture!!! <3

Yes it was! I have also great memories of the duet with Florence Welch on 'The Bachelor', the beautiful version of 'Theseus', and the moment everybody stood up from their seats at the beginning of 'Hard Times'. (I don't know how we all managed to keep sat down without dancing for so long...

(sorry for the long absence, I got trapped in a warp zone. ) I used to do programming, it's good to understand how a game technically works, but these days I'm working with dedicated programmers and artists. So in a way yes, design is about "telling the others what to do", but because creating a deep, accessible, and engaging player experience has become so complex it's now a discipline of its own. It's as much about your vision of the game as being able to drive the talents of the team to make it happen. (let me know if it answers your question or raises new ones. )
