so this is where it gets pompous... ;D It seemed to me and someone else necessary to start a thread on this, because we absolutly love period dramas and I sincerely hope there are other wolfies to join in interesting discussions about everything related to that. (Also I somehow can't focus on the work I should be doing, so yeah In order not to make this a completly off-topic thread right from the start I just thought about something which I think is a great idea (I hope I won't be proven wrong) Close your eyes, imagine your favourite time period, costume drama or book (of a long dead author ) and get Patrick somehow in there. Who would he be? Which of your favourite heros would he impersonate? What costume would he be wearing? etc. Well, I'm already getting excited about this, if you feel childish enough to feel the same way, here you go! Or just simply talk about your favourite period dramas. I know them all - slight exaggeration. ;D some inspiration ... aiming at nice contributions...

Oh I wonder who the other person could be who recommended starting this thread Well I am a costume drama addict!!! I have designed the theme of my bedroom around my favourite colours (Green + Black) + everything is designed in a costume drama, decadent luxury sense. Like I have all masquerade masks, lanterns etc My all time favourite actress and person is Kate Winslet so therefore my favourite cosyume drama's are any with her in i.e. Titanic, Sense&Sensibility, Hamlet, Quills etc I have a penchant for the more Gothic costume drama's i.e. From Hell, Sleepy Hollow...Even Van Helsing, Dorian Grey.....Am Wolf Man anything like them I also adore Keira Knightley. You know The Duchess, Atonement, Pride&Prejudice...ALL Awesome. What else? Am Marie Antoinette!! I am costume drama obsessed. I have them all on DVD

;D oh my how did you find your way in here your room really looks like that? gosh, make a picture and post it, I'm intrigued now. I'm really too lazy to decorate my room. Kate Winslet is so talented, I loved her as Marian in Sense and Sensibility. In "Jude" she was great too, but quite mental ... well, Thomas Hardy, so it had to end like extremly saaad and tragic. Haven't seen much of the more gothic stuff, but lately I was just about to watch Sleepy Hollow. got to finish that. and I watched Interview with the Vampire (though I don't really like Tom Cruise, but as the lunatic vampire he was actually great ) Keira Knightley is great, yes! but she's so skinny that it sometimes makes me feel scared. Atonement was really good, though I prefer the book (which I read afterwards). P&P - me and my sister watch it at least once a year together ah, and lately Keira was in Never Let Me Go. have you seen that? not really period, but wow just stunning! well, I love Matthew MacFayden in P&P, obviously...but it's an over-all gorgeous cast Marie Antoinette! Yay love it. Sofia Coppola is one clever woman. Ever seen Bright Star? After watching it I felt for several days like I had to wander about and recite Keats... besides: chez toi it's like two hours earlier than chez moi (don't really know the English equivalent so yeah, French works doesn't it? ;D) or is that only the wolfboard that makes you believe it's still early in the evening?

he's back! from the grave? well let's not hope so, I almost finished Deathly Hollows, but then the endless flowing fake blood made me stop watching. for some reason I dread fake blood. real blood is kind of okay, but fake blood looks so ugh...don't know. ah have to disappoint you, I never really enjoyed musicals. don't know why, I like even ballet or opera/operettas (well some), but I never could watch a musical till the end (maybe I've tried the wrong ones and then I didn't try any other). You don't know Bright Star? what a shame! Jane Campion is like the goddess of filmmaking (in my eyes you really should try that one, it's heavenly in every aspect. ah and if that's not a teaser, I don't know what else could be : (that wasn't made by me, just another Patrick Wolf fan with good taste I guess)

Oh, I just love period dramas! Especially victorian era fascinates me. My favourite period piece is Little Dorrit, it's just amazing. The characters, the actors, the victorian London, the story, based on book by Charles Dickens... (by the way, Matthew Macfadyen's in it - Little Dorrit made me fall in love with him in the first place) Sadly I haven't seen too many period dramas. I have a list of movies and series I'd love to watch, but I just haven't watched them yet. One I really want to see is Bleak House, because it is said it's great and the book it's based on is one of my favourites (Charles Dickens, again ). And by the way, I just saw Marie Antoinette again a little while ago! It's really lovely. I absolutely love musicals too. Sweeney Todd, Moulin Rouge and Chicago are included in my absolutely favourite movies - not to forget Phantom of the Opera, which is amazing in every way possible. Period + musical = (usually) perfect.

LOL now I've got a new victim! ;D hello there Bleak House is indeed very good. A bit complicated, but as you know the book, no problem there I guess. And Little Dorrit...it's adorable! I love Matthew in it! Just bought The Crimson Petal and the White today. It's really good, though a bit gothic and dark.
