Just got a press release from Konkurrent, the Dutch distributer of several 'indie' labels like Asthmatic Kitty (Sufjan Stevens / My Brightest Diamond), Secretly Canadian (Antony & the johnsons), Rough Trade (Emiliana Torrini) and TOMLAB.
They have a new Patrick Wolf album release, for CD and LP release, on February 18th, called 'Teratology'.
Has anyone heard anything about this? I called them immediately to ask for clarification, but the guy said they hadn't gotten any any other information. It does look like it's a Patrick Wolf solo release (not some 'various artists' release).

Patrick's track Volcano Radio was id3-tagged as a track from an album with that title. There's also been talk of a "rarities & unreleased" album, so, either it's a total fake, or this is the one.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The guy who sent it out (very legit, by the way, it's a press mailinglist) told me he'd look into it and get back to me if he knew any more details.

I think he said that there was going to be some re-release of Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires in digital format...but yeah, I had the impression the rarities thing would be released in digital too. Oh well! I prefer tangible things anyway.
Hopefully this is the rarities album!

I just got an e-mail from the distributor... He says Teratology will consist of (in his words) 'left-over material'. So yes, that does indicate this is the 'rarities & unreleased' album. I've asked him to keep me updated

Yehay! I hope at least some of it is completely unknown stuff that he kept to himself, not just the b-sides and rare songs that have been available for a while

It IS a bit strange that it's not listed anywhere. No release lists, no information on the Tomlab site, and not even a month until release. I've e-mailed the local Tomlab distributors, but have yet to receive a reply...

I was wondering who was putting it out, not distributing. And an LP? That's interesting too because they didn't put out Magic Position, but I guess since it is a rarities album they figured there would be more of a market.

This has potential to be very exciting. But I'm not sure whether to get my hopes up just yet. I would have thought realeasing it now would have been too early.

Ah wow this does sound quite exciting but i better not get my hopes up yet. And i've not discovered that Teratology means, 'In contemporary usage, the term teratology generally refers to disfiguring birth defects or malformations'
