This is really good. The kind of thing Steven Moffat was born to write. Though I did prefer the first episode to the one last night. The tones were so differernt; the first episode being a lot darker and real world centred and the second being more of an adventure yarn (with a very PC defying portayal of the Chinese!)
Needless to say Benedict Cumberbatch does a terrific job in the lead role. Like Moffat's 11 Doctor there's an aspergers elements to the character, but in a very different way. Cumberbatch's aloofy monontone facial expressions and lack of social reciprocity are very well potrayed. Another reason I found the first episode more interesting is it went more into his psyche, I like how much it made a point of his sociopathy and how it makes other weary... like he's almost the mirror of a serial killer himself.
The fake out in the first episode with Mark Gatiss/his brother was genius! I'm looking forward to the concluding part, seeing Moriarty and hoping they'll get a longer series next time.

i agree, the first episode was better. i think they kept it closer to the original and the spirit of conan doyle's books was very present, while the second one was a bit more like the contemporary action detectives. it wasn't bad though and i will definitely keep on watching it. i must mention martin freeman who i think makes a great doctor watson. i hope irene adler gets a mention in the series too, she's my favourite sherlock holmes villain

i hope irene adler gets a mention in the series too, she's my favourite sherlock holmes villain I don't think she will, as much as I'd like if she did, since they only have one more episode left in the mini-series and so far she's not been mentioned at all. Hopefully they'll make more though, with her!

yeah, it's good but it's not mind-blowing. i've worked out the answers way before they're given in both parts so far, so i don't get why everyone's going on about how clever it is. it's a bit TOO bbc drama in parts, and i think sherlock is a bit too uber stylised, but overall, i really like it, and martin freeman's very good as watson.

I just watched the first two episodes on iPlayer and I really liked them. I liked the effects of texts/his thought process hovering over the screen.
Not mind-blowing but very good and the first episode really gripped me.

I decided to start watching this tonight. I watched half of episode one on iPlayer, thought it was really good, went to have a shower, and when I came back down they'd DELETED ALL OF THE EPISODES OF SHERLOCK FROM IPLAYER. So I guess I'll never know what happened...

FINALLY got round to watching the last episode last night, will definitely be looking forward to the next series! I thought the second episode was slow and had a few problems at the start of the first when I felt that Moffat was trying to turn Sherlock into Doctor Who #11 again, but loved all the energy

THE best thing! For ages after I couldn't stop thinking about it! I also loved how the thought processes and texts popped up, except the fact that they were so small so I had to keep running to the TV screen every time - Moffat - Not everyone has gazillion inch screen yaknow! I thought both Freeman and Cumberbatch were so good in their roles! Very exciting that it will be coming back! OH! And didn't you think Moriarty sounded like Graham Norton?!

They've started broadcasting it in France! I only saw one episode so far but I thought it was great! Thing is, Cumberbatch looks exactly like this guy I knew in high school, which is quite awkward for me XD.

I watched the 2nd one in English so yeaah his voice is really different! It's kind of like Alan Rickman's, and we don't have anyone in France with a voice so low?! XD
