I'm moving to the UK without a job! .... heh! Looks like I'll need some luck finding one. Oh well! I shall start an Unemployment Frustrationgasm thread when I get over there, I think. Apply for a fuckload of jobs, seriously. Start now. Just keep going and going. Quite an expensive place to live, here.

There's not enough room on the internet for my workaday woes: currently unemployed, seem to be in a liminal zone between being qualified to do a heap of jobs, without having enough experience to do any of them. Frustration itself!

Boo sucks, Michael!
My 3 hours of work today was supposed to be 'finding stuff to do/killing time', in the words of my co-worker. 3 hours today means I have to do 7 hours next Thurs. Errgghh.

Aww, that stinks, rhi.
I was taking care of first graders and my friend thought it would be funny if he ordered them to attack me. Before I knew it, 7 of them jumped on me, pulling my legs and arms. They basically beat me up, haha.
But I was super traumatized by thier tiny, adorable minons with thier tiny little fists.

I do sometimes actually enjoy my job.
I can sing and dance loud and embarrasingly as I'm alone there when I clean the rooms of a day-care centre for seniors. 8-9 hours spread on five days a week (1-2hours during the week, 3-4 at the weekend), since five years and always after 5pm(during the week). Everything seems fine.
But sometimes my boss (who lives next to the building since a few months -.-..) leaves post-its there and wants me to do some extra work like cleaning the silicon fillets around the floor in the bathroom. Well, he payed the extra time but it took me two hours cleaning them with a silly toothbrush. ( - when you come home from a whole day at univerity you just don't want to spend more time at work than absolutely needful..)
It's not the worst job in this world and it's quite practical that I live nearby but sometimes I don't like it at all and I can't find a better alternative.

i work as a nanny. it is 50 hours a week. i take care of a 12 month old girl. she is very good but it is very tiring. she can scream very loudly. i hang out with toddlers and latina nannies and a few stay-at-home moms all day; basically everyone is either 15 years older or 15 years younger than me. the pay is good.

My last job was typing up newspaper articles from the 1800s for an overpriced book my college is putting out for its 125th anniversary. I liked it because I ended up getting to go through awesome old photograph archives and all the typing increased my wpm.
But in less than 6 months I need to find a long term job. And I am stupid and trying to find one on the west coast whilst living on the east coast. I'm really nervous I am not going to find anything in my field. I'm starting to think my best bet is applying for a map making job at Google . A cousin works for them and loves it and if I got a job there I could just play with other people's puppies and not have to get my own for a few years.

That's such an awesome idea, Lauren. I would LOVE to work for Google one day. Also Allison, your job sounds amazing, too!
