there are bad, there are good. but all too often they don't do justice contentwise. cover > content? cover < content? cover = content? the ones that appeal to me positively inciting me to listen to the respective album. never heard any of their songs before, but I'M INTO THIS COVER: are you being influenced?

Yes! Sometimes I like to pick a random album out from the record store, and see what I end up with. The cover is all I go on in those cases. A good cover is an essential part of the overall album package, IMO. One of my all-time favorite albums in the world, though, has the world's tackiest cover. And it breaks my heart. I just listen to the digital version and insert a different cover picture file for the songs. It's that bad. *vomits everywheeeere* What is WITH the fakey-hokey Halloweeny bullshit and when did that get a place in the confessional singer-songwriter genre? My favorite album cover is A Secret Life, by Marianne Faithfull. This picture is really what got me into Marianne Faithfull initially, and I am now a diehard fan. So much win, there.

I loved all the cover art and photoshoots that went with TMP. Definitely better than the Batchelor.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the Bachelor artwork either, but its better than TMP in my opinion! I quite like the Lycanthropy and WitW covers though.
I dunno, that TMP covers just makes me... kinda sad or something. Its like the concept just went all wrong. Its mostly his pose and his face, its like, wtf?! And those animals on the carousel!! It's just not what the album sounds like at all. On the plus side, his shoes are awesome.

lol Xteenuh, I find the rabbit-horse-deer-donkey thing on the TMP very unsettling. but it still makes me feel all fuzzy on the inside.

never heard any of their songs before, but I'M INTO THIS COVER: [roguewave/permalight] eh, just listened to the first three songs from the album. COVER IS WAY BETTER, music not my cup of tea. also: placebo have had so many good covers (as their music WAS):

I agree that the Placebo ones are good. So are 'Agytis Byrjun' (< spelling is wrong, I know, I never get it right) and 'Takk...' by Sigur Ros but their 'Von' is WIERD, ( ) too pretentious, and 'Med Sud' (the naked bums album) was actually good... 'Lycanthropy's' cover is ok, but WITW is definitely a case of 'content over cover'. I'm not a fan of the 'magic position' cover, although I can see how it's a 'pop' album cover. I Like some of Savatage's album covers too; Can't really think of much else, I've bought albums cheap second-hand because of the cover art, most were terrible except something like political-German-hip-hop...
