I feel like I should be ashamed of my Californian accent now, hah. Luckily you all don't have to hear me speak. ... Now I'm tempted to record myself speaking all my posts and replacing all my text with mp3s. Hmm.

I listened to your voice on that other thread, Tara, and I'm super jealous of it, you're really well spoken.

I like American; like the singer of ‘Say Anything’, looove that.
And yay for Tarantella liking Icelandic, I like most Scandinavian accents, especially Finnish. Because I was obsessed with Finland/Finnish music for a long time, and actually ended up picking up the accent a bit…
South African annoys me, my friend’s mum and my work-experience-person are South African and it just sounds patronising.
London always makes me feel comfortable and happy because it reminds me of my dad and it’s just generally nice and relaxed. Until it borders on the ‘Chavvy’ drawl that just grates…
I’m not entirely sure I have an accent, everywhere I go I expect people to recognise that I’m form Norfolk, but they don’t. Which is just as well, because I hate the Norfolk accent. I guess it’s because my mum (who’s from Norfolk) is quite ‘well spoken’ and my dad had afore-mentioned London accent. When in London someone actually thought I was from London.

Thanks, Jade. <3 I tried! I recorded myself responding to this thread and I couldn't post it. I really cannot stand the sound of my voice. Also, I apparently have a lisp, why don't people tell me?

If you don't have great recording equipment, you'll sound like you have a lisp when you don't in actuality!
Hey there, I adore your voice. You have one of the most pleasant voices I've heard. I wouldn't mind if all my professors had their voices replaced with yours if it wouldn't be terrifyingly confusing.

I agree, it's very smooth and pleasing Whilst we're talking lush voices, I would like to proclaim that the voices of Stephen Fry and David Attenborough make me want to curl up, suck my thumb and drift off to sleep.

I agree with the above three posts Maybe it's like the "Radio 4" voice. I love falling asleep to Radio 4.

What's H2G2, Anna? And also, a bit off-topic, but does anyone have the Harry Potter audiobooks on CD/their computer? It seems I missed out listening to them as a child

Would I blow your mind if I said that, on sleepless nights, I get out my Harry Potter audiobooks and Stephen Fry's melodic, smooth voice helps me to curl up, suck my thumb and drift off to sleep? ;D

It seems I missed out listening to them as a child I want to buy them so badly and have done for ages, but for all the books (or for the first five or however many there were when I first looked it up) the audiotapes cost like, hundreds of pounds! Stephen is so out of reach

I'm a bit ashamed of my American accent when I meet people. It's so exuberant. But I really like it at times. Like in English class. My teacher always asks me to repeat what I say though :/. But it's definitely better than the French accent XD! Also, my voice is lower when I speak in English, it's kind of like speaking to a different person when I switch from French to English. French is so monotonous. And I get way more agitated when I speak in English.
But I happened to be in Virginia when I learned English, so I can't help having the accent I have...I did find that when I talked to English people I kind of modified it though and pronounced words in a way I wouldn't usually... But I don't really have occasions to speak English much so basically when I talk now it's a mix of American with a slight French accent, and using American and British words, and using expressions very similar to French.
I love Noel Fielding's accent, David Tennant's accent, and Dylan Moran's accent. I also enjoy their voices XD. Can't think of anyone else right now. Stephen Fry obviously too but I haven't heard his voice as much as the people I just talked about. Oh and Russell Brand. But that's the way he talks though. I like the expressions he uses XD.
In France...the Northern accent for me is not understandable, and the Southern accent annoys me. Maybe because I used to live in the South and I got annoyed with everyone in the end.

any french and french canadians should post their voices. French accents are hot.
Good accents (when speaking english, mainly): French German Irish Most types of african accents American(i find it hard to distinguish between regional accents though... So just americans in general)
Bad accents: Most regional English Strong scottish South african
Also glumblebumble when you say David Tennant do you mean his dr.who accent or natural scottish?

I'm terribly fond of Scottish and Irish accents, alongside most of the southern states-ones. xD The Oxford-accent makes me smile as well, haha.

I've been watching 'The Dudesons' on Youtube all week and squee-ing over their accents. I can also do a perfect Finnish accent now too. XD
