I'll sum up my feelings towards radiohead by giving you in short my thoughts on their albums.
Pablo Honey- awful debut album. If you played me this in 1992/3? whenever it came out and told me this band would go on to be one of the most forward looking and best mainstream rock bands of the last 20 years I'd laugh in your face. Generic snoozer that can't decide if it wants to be Nirvana or U2. A few glimpses of potential.
The Bends- Big improvement. Still too stadium RAWK to be my thing really, some of the generic nature of Pablo Honey carries over. Makes up for it with a few sublime songs like Street Spirit.
Ok Computer- Good album. Still basically emotive epic mainstream rock, with some weird and complex production techniques thrown in. Not as innovative as people say, but a darn good record I think. Gets raved over a lot, but I could think of worse albums to dominate all those meaningless polls.
Kid A- The one Radiohead album I REALLY love, shows a future of sorts for rock in the 00's. Shame few followed they're lead. How To Disappear Completely is just a gorgeous song, worthy of Scott Walker as is Motion Picture Soundtrack. People forget now how much raw HATE this album stirred up and all the scathing reviews it got. Our generations "Dylan goes electric" moment?
Amensiac- This got better reviews than Kid A. Hmm bar Pablo Honey it's they're least album. Feels like leftovers from Kid A, hell it IS leftovers from Kid A. But Pyrmaid Song is one of my favourite songs by them.
Hail To The Thief- Oddly disjointed and uncohesive as an album. Sounds like a superior bits and bats or b-sides collection. Plenty of good music here though.

I really do love Radiohead very much, but haven't listened to them in a long time, there's too much music out there to explore(well, there can never be too much music.) Basically I agree with Josh, except OK Computer is my fave album(such a cliché, don't I know it), followed by Kid A, The Bends and HTTT, in that order. I don't care much for Amnesiac and Pablo Honey, and the latter is quite poo, yes. Creep bores me to no end, and it bugs the hell out of me that is sorta has become their anthem, at least to people who are unfamiliar with their music. I have this friend who really dislikes them, but the only Radiohead song she's heard is creep, and that's unfair to the rest of their catalogue.

I love them, but I really can't bring myself to see them live, for I pretty much know they will play a 4 hour set of experimental Polish jazz versions of Amnesiac demos. The Bends and OK Computer are my favourites.

The bends is my favourite, but I like certain tracks from other albums. I'd say either climbing up the walls or the national anthem are my favourite tracks

Used to be my favorite band of all time.
Saw them live right after Hail To The Thief came out. First concert ever.
Still absolutely adore them. But I don't think they are the greatest anymore.

They were my first 'real' band a such so they hold a special place in my heart. I was 10 or 11 when my sister introduced me to them and then I would do school music projects on them etc and get shunned in class for liking them : ( They all wanted to listen to Robbie Williams....I did play Idioteque for them though....Needless to say they were not impressed.

This thread inspired me to dig out my Radiohead albums for the first time in donkeys years and I was surprised to discover Hail To The Thief is much much better than I remember it being, an excellent album. Also on the other side of the coin it struck me that take away Street Spirit and Fake Plastic Trees (I like Nice Dream as well actually) and The Bends is a complete snore of an album.

It's their most mainstream album, definitely.

I used to be obsessed with Radiohead. But at the time I wasn't in a very good place in my life, and since my musical tastes have changed so that I dont listen to them anymore, listening to them again kind of... puts me in a bad frame of mind again... so I dont really like them anymore.
I think Idioteque will always be my favourite song to dance crazily to though, and I'll never never forget my fetish for Jonny Greenwood's amazing hair....

My friend and I agree that "Hail To The Thief" is our favourite Radiohead album, but haven't found anyone else who feels the same.
Thom's voice can grate on me after a while though.

haha, i rather like ok computer, i would say its my favorite album because i can listen to it in any frame of mind where as kid A my other favorite, i cannot listen to except very often and with all my attention devoted to it.
i met jonny greenwood once he was a sweetheart and had such amazing hair and was so incredibly tall, don't ask me what i said to him it was all bollocks, he just said "oh well thats nice" and stuck his hair behind his ear and hunched. sadly it filled me with such elation just to meet him

I really REALLY like The Bends, that could get into my top 15 albums any day, I love the whole thing, with the possible exception of Bulletproof... and I also really like OK Computer, Karma Police is just an amazing song...the rest of the albums all feel a bit average for me, especially Pablo Honey, and Hail To The Theif, there never seems anything particularly special in them.
