I love them muchos. If they win the Mercury music prize this year, I will take to the streets to dance and sing with happiness.
Also my best friend's mum's friend plays violin in the band, another bit of useless information.

When was the last time you heard anything about Gomez, Talvin Singh, Badly Drawn Boy or Ms Dynamite? Basically it throws the album into the realm of the broadsheet reading middle aged/middle class wanting to appear "hip". The instant burst of sales a Mercury win creates really isn't worth the dent in credibility it causes.. I bloody love Antony and The Johnsons and they haven't been seen as a 'cool' band to say you like for a while, not that I give a shit but still.. The Mercury does more harm than help long term. Oh this thread is about Bat For Lashes? Tori/Bjork-lite. Nothing special.

I saw she played harpsichord and thought, 'woo!' But then I listened. And it was just a bit nothingy.

I've seen too many girls wearing gold headbands this summer. BLAH.
I'm not too impressed with her music but at least she lists Buffalo 66 as an influence amoung the fairly mediocre list of other interests.

But fook isn't dull.
You could use a sensible metaphor.
Like dull as slightly tepid masturbation.

I got the album, and I like it, but I haven't listened to it as much as I thought I would. But I do like them.

I really like her music. I'll admit it had to grow on me a littleeeee. But for the most part, I think she's great. Her songs are magical in the same way a lot of Patrick old songs are [not that the new ones aren't magical too, i guess i just mean more pagan and myth-inspired or earthy.]
Yeah. I think she is good.

i was in the second row sort of to the left Rhianne standing in front of the girl with the big hair and exquisitely cool silver dress. is it just me or do most female artists either get lumped into the bjork or pj harvey category, I've noticed this of late, though in truth i see little of bjork in bfl music

She has one or two great songs but the rest of the album was just "listenable". I wish she would lose her cool instead of making a bunch of dull tunes.

Bat For Lashes are great! Saw them at ULU in febuary or whenever they played ULU this year and they were really good. Also you have to give Natasha credit for the way she handles the annoying male hecklers, well at that gig anyways.
Hmm im not very good at convincing people of an artists greatnes through words. But ill never change anyone's mind anyways. Soooooo im just gonna say I looOOOOve Bat For Lashes and hope to god they dont win Mercury though its gd that they were nominated!
I also love British Sea Power. Hope everyone else here does too!!!!
