I love Heartland too. I've been listening to it on Deezer (I was gutted not being able to buy it after the concert, but chatting with Thomas was totally worth it).
About 2 weeks ago I had my E is for Estranged phase (youtube though). Before that was Lewis Takes Action. Now I'm loving The Great Elsewhere. I can't wait to get the album in the mail to be able to listen to it correctly and start playing it! Also can't wait for Owen to publish the sheet music!
I've also noticed...I think Owen's voice is waay better on Heartland than on SOME songs on Has a Good Home or He Poos Clouds. Like he's more confident (which is logical, he's toured more, he knows his voice better and stuff...). He uses more vibrato and his voice is less..."flat"? Not flat as in off key, flat as in nothing to it. But his voice has something to it, just saying that in some moments in some songs it just seems a bit like it's hard for him to sing and he's not relaxed enough to sing like he does now. Just saying that his voice has progressed and become more enjoyable (not that it wasn't before). Well, not his voice, his manner of singing, that's what it is. Sorry if I don't make sense, but does anyone else think that way?

Glumbumble, you're totally right. He used to practically whisper on his songs, it was really pretty and quiet and the lyrics were impossible to decipher without looking them up. His voice is much stronger now. I like it both ways, though.

I can definitely see that, his voice seems a lot more confident in Heartland to me. (So I get to spend less time looking up lyrics! Still love his older stuff though). To make this less of a waste of a post, I was in HMV yesterday and while walking out, I saw this magazine thing out of the corner of my eye, and Owen was on the cover! I think it's called Exclaim and it's free to get in Canada, not sure if it's available anywhere else? There's a full page interview with Owen, I can scan it later if anyone hasn't seen it.

Thanks so much! I actually went "awwww" when I read about him almost having a mental breakdown :/ . Here's a picture I found on some website and it made me laugh for some reason (probably Owen's pose...XD)

That's exactly what I did when I read about the mental breakdown! "Awww!" Well the stress definitely paid off. I can't stop listening to Heartland. I'm getting soooo excited to see him live. 24 days! Haha, that's a pretty odd picture.

oh dear, that is like Owen in a costume or something, quite a change from the usual (minimally buff) look.haha
I adored the Union Chapel gig and just bought tickets for Koko, I'm a bit iffy about the venue though, if someone next to be/infront/behind me will talk too much or loud I will punch them.
random but, I saw Jade when I went for a wee (in the chapel, not just randomly)

Saw Owen in a small snippet of MTV News today (Canadian version). He talked about why he loves Toronto, getting used to his "new" name and then ate food with the interviewer. I was really excited to see it after randomly flipping channels!

The video's up on mtv.ca! And oh my goodness those tarts are so good. They're Portugese custard tarts and they are probably my favourite dessert. I wonder where that shop is, I didn't recognize the street they were on.

Really? I tried to find the video before and all I could find was the blog post about it. I'll have to look again. And for some reason I thought they were on College St., but I don't live in Toronto, so I don't know it well enough to have recognized it! I'll have to try and hunt the place down when I (hopefully) go there for school next year.

Got Heartland in the mail yesterday. Love iiiiit. What Will Happen Now? Beautiful!!! Owen's voice....that's what I was talking about in my earlier posts. Also I made my violin teacher listen to the album and he said he had probably used different recording material that made his voice softer or something...hm. Is he doubting Owen's soft voice skills ? Also heard people talking about Heartland on the french radio this afternoon and they played Flare Gun and Lewis Takes Action I think. Which made me go "YAAAAAAY! OWEN ON THE RADIOOOO". So I stayed and listened even though I had been listening to the CD previously in my room XD. The woman said at times it sounded messy? I can understand if you listen without really paying attention (just Mount Alpentine) but you have to listen to it carefully to actually hear that it's NOT a mess. And certainly not in MP3 format. I listened to the CD and now it's on my iPod but I hear the difference, it kinda hurts me to listen to a less good version of Heartland :/. But can't walk around with my walkman, takes too much space :/. Edit: I can't watch the MTV video because I'm in France :/. It's ok though.

I heard Owen on the radio too! It was so exciting. There's this show that plays new music and they played Midnight Directives. I keep just putting Heartland on and listening to it over and over. So great. In other Owen-related stuff today, it's official that me and my friend are playing our own arrangement of 'This Lamb Sells Condos' for a flute duet at our city's music festival in April. Got the official okay through an email from Patrick (Borjal) this afternoon. I'm so excited!
