I made this last night/this afternoon: The whole front (light blue) is a pocket and the back is just like a plain tote bag. The design is hand embroidered, just with a back stitch using 3-strand floss. I used a bed sheet for the navy part so it's nice and sturdy. The embroidery pattern is from this site: needlecrafter.com/patterns.html

That's really cute! And thanks for the link; it's so hard to find free embroidery patterns. And there are so many lame patterns, too! Sometimes I don't want to stitch teddy bears or Jesus. yesterday I found a link discussing these awesome patterns designed by a former tattoo artist and I was like, oh man, this is going to be more awesome than Sublime Stitching... but then the link to the patterns was dead. Damn. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of robocat before I gave him away. Sadly, I made the mistake of stitching through both sides of the shirt so now it's unwearable. I felt so stupid. He loved it anyway (and can cut it out and pin it to another shirt, at the very least.) Bags are good ideas for gifts, too. I made these two for friends' graduation gifts. (And I thought, hey, even if they think they're hideous they can still put shit in 'em! But luckily they loved them.) Whale bag: The whale is fabric, everything else is acrylic. originally the whale was going to be a narwhal, which is why he's grinning so, but then I realized a great golden horn would clash with the other colors. Deer bag: All paint.

Errr....time to bump this, I guess. I finished this a few days ago...Nights At the Circus anyone?: and a close up: Not sure what to do with it...I wanted to frame it, but I don't like the white background.

I made it into a pillow, but forgot to take more pictures before I gave it to a friend. Edit: there's also a bit of stray brown thread on the hen's butt. Apologies.

I am loving those bags that people have made, really nice. I've just bought an antique sewing machine... I know it's limiting because it's like 100 years old but it's more fun I made my first ever cushion a few days ago, and have never really used a sewing machine before: Haha it's alright for a first try. I guess I only sewed squares together but I suppose i have to start somewhere. I plan on making bags and things eventually. With scraps of material and random bits.

OMG. Everyone's so good on here, there's just too many things I love, peppermintstripe, you sound so much like me with the making clothes, but not the knitting (I failed at that!) jadeface, the first sewing machine I had was an antique one (bought by my granma) and tbh they're more relliable than electric ones.
Practiacally everthing I own i've made, clothes, bags, duvet covers. I just can't afford vintage or designer things and don't belive in sweatshop production like Primark. I'll find some pictures of things I've made soon.

Yeah, it's been really good so far. I just spent 5 hours making my first ever bag, it's getting pretty fun now. Eventually I will design things properly and not just improvise, but I think it went quite well (in a folksy kinda way): I love a bit of garishness, for whatever reason. And i've made it pretty secure so it won't decide to break if I actually feel the need to use it. I want to make clothes eventually, tops and dresses and things. I just need more material I guess. I'd like to see more things in this thread, I really like hand made things I think it's special when people make things that are one of a kind.

There's a fabric place in the underground market here if you ever need tacky stuff or buttons or cheap ribbon, hah.

Yeah it's nice isn't it - I should probably have kept it much more minimal (I will in the future, but I didn't design anything, I was just playing I will use it anyway, providing I don't wear multicoloured folk patterns on the rest of me

the most recent dress i've made - it was inspired by the seaside and salvaged rope =] sadly i only ever make things in size 6s. which was fine until i started taking the pill again ! this photo makes me miserable. i need to find someone skinny to model this for me for the time being!

couple of months! twas a very very very very long time, because i started on it and then i was dragged down with so much coursework and never had time to do any work on it dresses that only take a few hours are so much more fun... a plainer but much speedier dress; i completely fell in love with that fabric when i found it!

The first dress! I'd kill innocent plants to wear it if I wore dresses. In other words: I am impressed.
