HAHA.
Moles make mounds, round your bones, deep underground *Patrick moves downwards to signify underground means below* Nobody knows *Patrick touches his head to show the viewer the people use their brains for knowledge*

The lady is hugely tall. This was the first thing I noticed. The video is a bit more simple than I expected...I do like it a lot though. I've never been a huuuuge fan of PW videos in general...I think some of them are brilliant but have never really been my particular taste. With that said I usually think they fit with the songs. Except Hard Times. I never really got Hard Times. But anyway. This video. I do find Patrick very hard to take seriously as an actor...his facial expressions are always so dramatic (more so these days maybe? I was thinking as I watched it, in Wind In The Wires I found him really convincingly into the song...but I also think he comes across as a lot more dramatic in general these days.) and so I find it pretty difficult to separate him from all that he comes across as already. I like the look of it, I think it's really nice in a kind of non-professional way...I am a HUGE fan of little editing when it comes to music videos. I dont like videos with distractign effects and all that. Yes. I like the simplicity and I think it goes well with the song, but Patrick should only ever be in a film if he is playing himself.

Hm, well...I like that he kind of went back to basics with this video... but the video itself...it was OK, but not that great, imo. I really liked some scenes (the one where he's in the forest, lying on the ground...the kissing scene...) other scenes where a bit boring. But I guess what's bugging me the most is that it just doesn't look like it's complete. There are quite a lot of ideas and concepts in the video, but it seems nothing's finished. the dance in the beginning, the praying, the forest, the kiss,... he should have stuck to two ideas and connected them somehow.

didn't think much of the video really, I liked the shots of them lying on the grass together, they both looked very attractive, but ultimately disappointing

Okay: I LOVE the song (always have) and was expecting like this LOTR-esque epic love imagery and I almost thought I got it until they started doing interpretive dance. But I couldn't help but think of this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_-ZARjpeL0 when watching it.

yeah, I guess you're right. I just watched it again (before reading your post) and I actually saw a connection. With that story connected to the video it really makes sense and I like it a lot more

I liked it more than some of his other videos. For me, the biggest problem was some distracting editing, and some movements that seemed a bit stiff. For example, I LOVED when they crossed each other in unison, to the beat of the song, but only the first time. The second time in came in, the cut to it seemed a little off, suddenly breaking the flow of the previous action, and felt a bit to me like a missed dance step they needed to recover. "Holy crap, cross yourself again!" That was a tiny bit better the second time I watched it, as the actual timing seemed off the first time, which may have been a hiccup in the video, because it was still loading. I still think he should have only used that once, though. It lost power the second time. The section with the red costume seemed to jump out a bit at me, too. However, there are some parts I really liked.
My biggest complaint, though? By the lyrics, Patrick picked "Gypsy" as Damaris' origin. What really threw me off was the casting. Personally, I would have preferred to see a darker-haired, darker-skinned woman cast as Damaris. The blond worked for Patrick's character, Lewis, but to those who don't know the story because they've been told it, it's really tough to pinpoint what's going on. From a storytelling perspective, it should speak for itself, and I don't think it does.
That was a bit of a mess of a ramble, sorry.

Personally, I would have preferred to see a darker-haired, darker-skinned woman cast as Damaris. Absolutely. I always pictured Damaris as black.

ok well overall it's a good video.
1.) they danced a volta (well kinda), a muthafuckin volta. Basically anyone who dances a volta becomes the shit, diss that dance at your own demise. The movie Elizabeth "play a muthafuckin Volta" ok that wasn't the line but thats what she meant
2.) Patrick shouldn't look prettier than the subject matter (Damaris), but sometimes he does.
3.) whatever happened to that god damned damaris anyway, i don't think patrick knows either, was it the plague, burned at the stake, hit by a bus, i wanna know, but i'm happy with the mystery.
4.) this was like interprative, like butterflies emerging from coccoons, and really tight body suits that emboss the genitals, aka it's secretly awesome. Only slightly loses track of it's concept but i think anyone would get it, they are lovers, way back when, who couldn't be together, the why of that however is blank.
overall it wasn't what i expected, and i come to expect the unexpected from this guy, so good job.
