I generally avoid dark alleyways at all costs, thanks very much! Although at home we call them "jitties" (I have NO idea how it's spelt, but that's how it's pronounced) instead of alleys

lol the title of the thread is quite suggestive. I wouldn't want to encounter Gary Busey: He threatens to rip out my endocrine system

Sometimes, when I give homeless people money they spend it on alcohol. Though, one time, I saw a hobo (for sure) on the train, wearing gold boots and a gold hard-hat. I liked him. He was fashionable.

Some tramps are ok, friendly, etc, but you get the ...'odd' ones that are just a bit crazy? Enthusiastic? I too give them food, if I have it and they want it. There is a guy who sits around Norwich with a ferret I always say hi to because he has a ferret (common interest)
I think I change my answer to Facebook stalkers then.

Sometimes, when I give homeless people money they spend it on alcohol. Well yeah, that's why it's a better idea to give hot food or blankets, or an umbrella or whatever seems relevent /useful. Once a Bosnian tramp lady full on punched my friend in the leg. He wasn't impressed, and we didn't give her any money. They were fraudsters preying on tourists though.

The thing is, it's usually "on-the-spot" offers, so I don't prepare myself with things to give. I try to pick out the ones who are pretending to be homeless, but you can never distinguish them. They even go as far to exploit kids, which makes it hard for people to care about the well-being of tramps. I usually try to think that the real homeless people, are the ones who don't ask for money and don't harass you, are usually kind and grateful. As for the real homeless people who do ask I feel really bad for them.

People who judge homeless people piss me off to a ridiculous extent. You don't know WHY they're begging, and who the fuck are you to judge how they spend the money you give them? It's not always a better idea to give food etc. either, because that might not be their priority, for example, a homeless woman gets raped and is then trying to get money to buy a pregnancy test- although a sandwich is a nice gesture, what she really needs at that point is money. Most homeless people know tricks to get food, like the bins round the back of supermarkets where they throw out ridiculous quantities of perfectly fine food anyway. When my best friend was homeless he would spend the change he got on getting to places, like potential jobs or somewhere to stay. Even if they do spend it on alcohol, I think that's fair enough, their life is kind of shit, I'd want to get drunk too.
Also, tramps isn't a very nice term to use.

Real homeless people don't piss me off. It's people who have money and pretend to be homeless, that pisses me off. Because of them, real helpless people don't get the help they deserve. Like, in my country, I asked "Why won't you give them money?" and they mostly respond with "Oh, they're probably faking it." which is wrong, but unfortunately people can't trust others, because there are assholes who fake it, is what I mean.
