I start to get crazy! Have listen at overture about hundred times now and can't figure out which song the string section in the intro reminds about. Did someone know?  |

Loads of the reveiws have said Mad World by Tears Fears? I was about to jump in and mention this. I've read this comparison all over the place. I don't see it personally - have always loathed that particular song!  IMO, one of those rare instances of a cover - the Gary Jules one - being superior to the (Tears For Fears) original. And of course, "Overture" is heaps better than either! |

i love this song. its only the drums at the beginning that make it sound like tears for fears.
the catchy riff on the magic position does remind me sometimes of Come on Eileen though

The radio played it one day when I was half asleep, and the 80s pop version is much more pleasing. Granted, I still love the Gary Jules version, mostly because it reminds me of Donnie Darko. |

People seem to get so chronically obsessive over it. My ex-girlfriend built it up for months as so big deep meaningful piece of art. When I actually watched it I just shrugged my shoulders. I found the satire totally tired and unoriginal and I dunno it just didn't really leave an impression on me.

I pales in comparison with more sophisticated works by David Lynch, who is appears quite obviosu they are attempting to imitate... Go watch Mullholland Drive and then come back and say Donnie Darko is "a good cult classic"  |
