Well, Sibz and Josh, now I understand why you don't like it. Thank you - it's much better than people just aimlessly mocking. WOOOOOOOOOO

In response to Jakes two posts - I guess they were aimed at me, as I have just read back over the thread, and I am the only one who could really be accused of "mocking" that isn't Sibs or Josh…
I'm quite upset by this, actually. It's really not my intention to offend anyone by anything I've said dissing Bachelor and Battle on this forum. It is all light-hearted and in jest, since I am still a big fan of Patrick Wolf's music, and at the end of the day it wasn't even me who started this thread.
I might have been heavily sarcastic on the first page, yes, but it wasn't "aimless mocking" by any means. I was doing it for the purpose of making my point about Patrick's lyrical progression (or regression), which was an entirely serious point.
I may have been rude about a song, but it's just a song. There's been a response on this thread with a fairly rude/sarcastic comment directed at me personally, and I responded to that politely, and in the legitimate manor of serious discussion - as I have to all other responses that came up on this thread.
So yeah... I guess all I can say is, I'm sorry, Jake, that that's the impression you got/way you felt after reading any of my posts. To be totally honest, I don't think it is deserved.
It's a song that a lot of people don't like. If anyone wants to make a joke out of that, then they can, as it doesn't take away from your right to like the song. Remember, it's not forum members making a personal attack on Patrick Wolf. The way which he has on several occasions made personal attacks on forum members in the past… So yeah. A little perspective, maybe, although I apologise for any offense/upset I caused.

:S ...
Terribly sorry that I'm not 'with the times' about Patrick's mockery of select forum members or whatever, but I just feel as though what you keep saying about the Bachelor and Battle is a bit boring, Florence. You even posted a question on the Q+A thread asking 'what went wrong' with it. I don't know... I just think that you'd never really say anything like that to him face-to-face, so why are you asking him a question like that anyway?
Oh, and thanks for trying to act as though you're cleverer than me, but you spelt 'manner' wrong.

1. That Q&A was a fairly feeble semi-joke that made me laugh and which everyone else chose to ignore. That was fine, and it means it's not an issue.
2. You don't know me, you've never met me. Yes, I would ask him about it in real life, actually. Maybe one day I will. But the only time I have met Patrick, I was in his backstage area under invitation from his tour manager, it was just before he was due to go on stage, I was in Wolfboard-duty mode, helping to deliver that gift, and I was representing the posters of this forum... in other words, totally the wrong time, place, and situation to bring up such a thing.
3. ...This post makes me realise how wrong I was about a lot of things. Jake, I've always thought of you as a sweet, friendly person whose posts and presence brings a lot to this forum, and I wish I'd realised before now how completely un-mutual those regards were. I also wish that I had been told earlier how my posts on this forum are seen solely as attempts to be cleverer than the people they are aimed at.
Finally finding out how people here see me, combined with the fact that, you're right, I don't like Patrick Wolf anymore (not the way I loved him when I first joined this place, before he started making shit music) adds up to what you, Jake, must have concluded long ago - I really have no reason to be on this forum anymore.
Enjoy licking Mr Wolf's backside and not being able to take a joke. An artist's forum where asking a musician what deodorant he uses is considered more acceptable than asking him why his music has gone downhill? I'm over this place anyway. I'll take my posts elsewhere.

CHILLAX Woah, just because we have a disagreement you go diva and leave? Christ. Seeing as we're getting bitchy, you don't know me either. How do you not know I'm sweet? How do you not know I'm the bitchiest bitch ever? Hmm. It's pretty sad that you're trying to pin your dramatic exit on me. I always liked you, but we all have different opinions and I didn't think you'd go this psycho to be honest lol. Whatever, though I'll just go lick Patrick's ass...

Florence?!! No! Much as it is not a good use of a Saturday evening to engage in a slagging match with a 14 year old queen. Shakey Jakey.. you get upset by people slagging off one of your favourite ickle popstars songs.. then you accuse Florence of being over-dramatic for being upset about unfair rude and insulting comments actually.. ABOUT HER? Seeing a few logic problems with that, eh champ? Stop acting the twat and say sorry and we'll call this even, ok? Florence you should not consider the opinion of someone who thinks pointing out spelling mistakes is a witty retort as a representative of the board's (warm) opinion of you, if you read this.

Terribly sorry, everyone. Oh yeah, Josh, I totally forgot that although pointing out spelling mistakes wasn't a 'witty retort', but calling me a 14 year old queen was? Looks like there are logical problems in your argument, 'eh champ'? Just feel as though the board is separating into those who are actually here because they support Patrick and those who just laugh at him. Bored of arguing.

Just feel as though the board is separating into those who are actually here because they support Patrick and those who just laugh at him. . Or just here cos we've always been here? Forum's evolve beyond their initial subject matter into communities more about the people that post there than the subject that brought them all to the forum in the first place. It might seem weird that many people here aren't that "down" with P.Wo's recent tunes and actions. But that's just the way it is here, if you don't like it, to use a metaphor, it isn't that it's a shit pub, its just not the pub for you. Go start a forum or community with a more overt pro-Patrick vibe that suits you more. Don't stomp around here telling us why we're "wrong" and being an insulting prick to people who've done nowt to warrant it but hold opinions you happen not to like. This community is what it is. Deal with it or GTFO. Oh and pointing out the absurdity of me spending my Saturday evening in a slagging match with a 14 year old queen wasn't really aiming for wit. More pathos with a hint of the surreal. Again Jake, I'll ask a second time. Apologise to Florence. You've upset someone I care about, and I'm not a big fan of that.

I never said you were wrong, I said I was bored of seeing it everywhere. I will not 'GTFO'. If it's absurd, why are you still doing it?
And why the fuck should I apologise to Florence and her not to me?
It's hilarious how I'm being 'trolled'.

Personally I think Vultures has the most valid point here. Guyyys, leave each other aloonnne, it's giving the board a sadface feeling. You say 14 yr old queen like it's a bad thing? I don't think there are any 14 yr old queens actually here but if there were they might be offended. I don't think Battle is the worst song ever written...I like it on the right kind of day...

It's not about Florence 'holding opinions I happen not to like' - I don't really care if she doesn't like the album. I just thought that post was a bit rude and unnecessary...

I have been biting my tongue for a long time now and just avoiding the common and community part of the forum because of the unpleasant way a lot of people are treated there but sometimes enough is enough this forum happens to be patrick wolf OFFICIAL forum. so wow how terrible it is for some of us being 'pro patrick'?i mean this is just not right is it? his own forum should not be pro patrick at all cos you dont like him anymore but like to stay here and act like you own this place? do you get kicks out of being the authority here with sibz and bully people constantly? why dont YOU get the fuck out and start a forum with less pro patrick vibe? I'm not saying we should all bow before him and adore him unquestioning but this is HIS forum and I'm getting a bit fed up how much he is criticized and being called shit person and songwiter. yes he is not a saint but he is not a complete prick either you seems to imply him to be. yes i know he has been nasty to you etc... I had an issue with a certain band once that I loved and they were nasty to me. I didnt stay on their forum to constantly slag them off. btw you yourself seem to spend a lot of time here being an insulting prick to people who've done nowt to warrant it but hold opinions you happen not to like oh and apologies to jake cos you called him a queen and he is someone i care about and I'm not a big fan of that and you know what feel free to attack me, be venomous, call me names, smite me etc. i dont give a shit and I wont be leaving either.

I'll say it, I don't like the song. It's one of the *very* few I don't like, in fact. But if it means a great deal to someone else, so be it. I'm glad it's there. I don't like everything Patrick does, but the times his music has saved my life more than makes up for a few thrown mic stands or, uh, signing a certain document I don't approve of (let's not start on that!) When it comes down to it, I'm glad he's there. I'm glad his music is there. Basically, I'm just here to exalt the moody teenager, who happens to be making more sense and being more mature than the opposition, at the moment.

On the subject of battle It's not my favourite of patrick's songs but I actually like it probably cos I often have to battle the conservatives it's all down to personal taste, there are songs on witw that I like less then battle but for me even the worst patrick song is better then some of the utter shite that is present in music
