i loved it in the megamix, but on my first listen i found it really overblown and lacking in structure... but then i found it kept getting stuck in my head, and now i can't stop listening to it. it's growing on me, i think.

OOH. He's good. I remember liking it live...but forgetting what it sounded like. And now...yeah, I'm starving for the single!

Wonderful, wasn't sure at first but it's definitely a grower.

I got so worried. The first link wouldn't work for me but myspace does.
It sounds great! but yeah, it is very umm...all over the place.

Here's my go at it:
Losing my head to Hollywood My liver to London My youth to Tokyo Sill on with the show
On on on On on on On on on
It's a hard Lesson But let me learn
(chorus) And the big wheels turn turn All your forest fires burn And all my dead meat yearns For the vulture’s return
Take this D-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat My d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat Your d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat My d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat
Coming down (vulture)
Down in Santa Monica Suicide motel One day with the devil Seven days in hell Mother don’t worry I said the boy is doing fine Home in a hurry I’ll be sane with good time
Hard lesson Let me learn
(chorus)
Take my D-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat My d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat Your d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat My d-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat
Edit: made the suggested changes, except kept it as 'one day with the devil' because it makes more sense to have both lines talking about days? Maybe?

Sounds pretty accurate to me, I thought it was home in a hurry though? But I'm not sure....

it's a hard lesson but let me learn one date with the devil home in a hurry be sane with good time (i thought it was be safe, at least that's what he said in the acoustic version at bandstocks but after listening to the myspace version a few times he says sane.) eta: www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858761512/

don't really think it sounds all over the place - seems to follow a pretty obvious structure...
still really miss the trombone!

I'm agreeing with all the editions ! There's just the deep-voice bits that are in the song, e.g. 'Satan' and after 'I'll be sane with good time', it's 't-t-t-t-t-t-time, time - hard ...' but they're not really important ! x

I thought the 'santa monica' line was 'demonica' which I'm not even sure if that's a word, but I thought it was cool. I obviosly know now it isn't but I'm famous for mis-hearing PW songs live. (then finding out it's something different and using the cool misheard thing in my own writing) Oh dear, why can't I write ANYTHING on topic? ...Sorry.

I haven't posted here in years but the new single makes me so incredibly happy I had to share my joy on here. I've been following Patrick since his beginnings but had somehow lost interest in recent months/years because I thought The Magic Position (or at least part of it) was quite average, but now I'm pleased to say that I find Vulture to be utterly fantastic. I hope the whole album will be of the same quality. I'll probably come back to haunt this forum in the next few weeks.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the song? I don't like the sound, love his voice thought, but man I hate myself for not liking it...

I'm the same. I find it a bit lackluster, but then again Vulture was my least favourite on the megamix. I still have high hopes for the album.

Nah, it sounds cheap and weak. Not terrible, but... Hmm.
