Just watched it. Very good! Not as good as the Vulture video imo but PW gets my respect for going against the grain and doing things which his fans don't expect and challenging their preconceptions of him.

I like kaleidoscopes, wish I had one.
I loved the video! I like the zooms and the neon and everything.

its up on pitchfork tv now, i'm undecided and thought he looked a bit draco malfoyish in the beginining of the vid (OH NO!!!) anyhow i prefer it to the vulture vid, this seems more cohesive.

Prefixmag have called it 'fabulously pretentious' and said some parts are like a 'low-quality screensaver'. Oh dear!

I quite like the kaleidoscope effect and it's general neon-ness - the editing it quite good also. But I think some of it is a bit embarrassing, such as it doesn't go with the song well and... well... Patrick to be honest.

That was wonderfully freaky and unexpected. I like his overacting and bad lip synching.

the experience of the video is greatly improved when watching the HD version.
we're aiming to get the video uploaded to youtube by the end of the week, so hopefully that won't be as 'blocky'.

I'm still not quite sure what I think of it. I enjoyed it a bit more on second and third watches, after the "WTF?" shock factor wore off. I think the thing that really threw me was that it doesn't really fit the song at all. To me, it looked a bit like it was all effects and shock-value, but no real thought as to how it related to the meaning of the lyrics or the feel of the song. (Well, there may have been a thought, but if it doesn't "read", then it's only meaningful to the artist.) There are also places where you can tell the timing is off and things were thrown together. You can really see that it was shot in a short period of time. I think it would have benefited from at least one practice day before the shoot, though they would have lost some people if they'd had to take two days instead of just one. (Also, the silly string near the end made me giggle, for some odd reason.)
On the other hand, though, the effects were neat, and I did like the kaleidoscope effect, and some of the ideas, like the drums, spinning squares, and the floating people costumes. If anything, it's bold and interesting, and goes beyond the scope of what we normally see in music videos. It's actually eye-catching.
It has its goods and bads, I think.
And yes, I do see where people above got the Velvet Goldmine feeling. That was such a trippy movie, haha.

yeah, pretty much what everyone else has already said, i don't yet understand how it fits the song, it isn't what i expected at all but i quite like it! looking back at witw/the libertine videos, he doesn't seem like the same person now! i meant that in a good way too, i don't think i've ever come across a musician who can change so dramatically & actually pull it off!
p.s does anyone else think this song is really catchy?

p.s does anyone else think this song is really catchy? Yes! Very! I found it very fitting today when I grabbed a paper on the subway and the front was a full page ad that said "Revolution is coming!" ... it was a phone company ad, but still...made me smile.

Well, I really enjoyed this video. Then again I think I'm coming from a different perspective on this... it's really interesting to see how the video came out considering the time constraints and the last minute decisions/cast calls etc. I agree that the timing bit is off... but, ah, I think we can forgive it- especially considering there were only a few trained actors there... the rest were lowly unpaid fans geeking out (myself included)...
It was a very different experience seeing it vs. being there, that's for damn sure!

Ah, I loves it!
I got the image of the people standing above him with the octopus-neck-braces to be some sort of reference to the Twin towers, but there are four... so i don't know, that doesn't make sense does it? Nope...
Hmm, I don't really understand it, but i like it, and i like that i can actually like something without understanding it. He does however scare me a little when in neon, not sure why.
Oh, on a random thought just birthed in my mind. Maybe the change from neon to normal is to show the two sides of people, like the good side and bad side? Hmm... Im not sure.
Whatever... instead of thinking out loud in a written sense, I will go and watch it one more time and escape in a world of neon.

Honestly it takes me so long to work out song lyrics I have almost given up on trying to understand videos-with-a-meaning However I guess I can give you an “ordinary-not-deep” persons pespective.
First off, the quick introduction of neon really caught my attention, and the song was lovely (and although its not meant to) felt quite upbeat - making me smile. Honestly I think that if this was given the right coverage then it could do really well. Far more acessible than vulture for sure okay I think I have rambled enough...

I think the imagery and effect was awesome. I feel like there should have been more "normal Patrick" shots and sequences to balance out and add contrast to the "neon Patrick," but it was still very good, and a very good homage to Klaus Nomi.

I really like it (claps profously). I'm getting more and more proud than i've invested in this album. It's most definately not a boring or run-of-the-mill album. Roll on release date monday. Is this gonna be 7 inched like Vulture was?
