From memory the book was The Naked Civil Servant by Quentin Crisp. However, not sure if I'm remembering the right one or the only Crisp book title I know.

Back from Meredith (we only went for PW) Such a gorgeous experience. The trees & bushland were lit up with lights & lanterns.... there were traffic signs warning about koalas & kangaroos which I kept imagining the band seeing and getting excited about. There was about a 15 minute delay after a few sound issues and I started to stress about the performance being cancelled or Patrick coming out in a really bad mood, but he was so lovely. THere were a bunch of drunk bogans near us who got a bit rowdy when he first came out and I had to bite my tongue because we had our 4 & 6 year olds on our backs, so really shouldn't be picking fights By the end of his set they seemed to have been won over and were cheering and dancing around, so I was happy that no apples were thrown or anything. THe kids had a ball and clapped along to Magic Position at the end, despite being absolutely exhausted. MP is their favourite track (along with 'A Boy Like Me'), so it was quite cool for them to hear it live. I had no idea how hard it is to carry 20kgs on your back for an hour while trying to dance and avoid fuckwits... jeebers. Set list as I remember it... Who Will Bluebells Damaris The Bachelor The Libertine Vulture Hard Times Magic Position with a snippet of Bjork's Hyperballad in there somewhere

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted here but felt like I should check in before tonight's gig. Last gig of the tour! Can't wait to finally see Patrick live.

Words can't do last night any justice. Absolutely beautiful.
I'm so, so happy to have been in that audience.
I wish there was a DVD made of last night to show the world what a raw, diverse, vulnerable, immensely talented creature he is.
*sigh*

Patrick,
I wish I had the words to thank you enough for last night's show in St Kilda.
I hope the koalas and a trip back home to your love give you the anchor and ground to set sail again next year.
Thank you for being so beautifully open and honest and exposed to your fans who love as though we know you intimately.

I'm sorry for monopolising this thread at 6:41 in the morning when normal people are in bed basking in the afterglow, but I thought I'd post a list of the songs he played last night. THese are not in order obviously.
Please correct me as needed....
The entire 'Bachelor' album, except I think 'The Messenger' & 'Thickets'
The Magic Position Bluebells The Stars
The Libertine Wind in the Wires Tristan Eulogy (?)
Bloodbeat The Childcatcher
Wildlife (I think that's the name - new track)

I wish there was a DVD made of last night to show the world what a raw, diverse, vulnerable, immensely talented creature he is. I have video of the first 100 minutes of the show. If I can find some good angles from some other people I could make a fan DVD of the show.

Listening to my audio recording now. It's not too bad quality. B/B- which considering my position is pretty good. I'll try and upload it sometime over the next few days. Then I'll try to gather footage for a video thing.

So I'm a stupid lucky goose.
I missed the Melbourne show all because I thought the show was on Tuesday night. I also made a complete idiot of myself in front of youtube celebrity...wait for it...FREZNED!!! I asked him if he was seeing Patrick tonight and he looked at me queerly and said he was seeing Animal Collective and then I realised that I made a BIG mistake.
Anyway I sulked along St. Kilda beach for a while and waited for a tram with my bro to take us back to Melbourne to salvage the night. Then, suddenly my brother and I saw Patrick Wolf and Victoria walking towards us! We said hi and told him about the whole debacle and he called us idiots/stupid I dont remember cause I was in awe and he followed it up with a "poor darlings". He said he was flying back home for XMas and wished us a personal Merry Christmas! He asked if we were stalkers cause we were right outside his hotel hehe but we explained we werent crazy fan girls - i do feel like one now. But man was he nice...so tall...so kind...so blonde....I can't get over that I met this man for like 2 minutes and shook his hand, it was incredible.
I wanted to say so much more like how was your trip and i adore your music but everything was rushing at 10 million miles a second! I think he got it though. Was it better than the show I missed maybe? Probably not. But it was ahhhhhhh.....

Oh you poor / lucky thing! You can't really ask for a better way to make up for such a massive let down! At least you'll stick in his mind for a while Was he heading home last night or do you think he was caught in this disgusting weather today?

Ahaha I guess you really can't. I think he was heading out tonight or early morning - not sure. It seemed he was getting the last bit of sun in St Kilda with a bottle of champers/wine in hand.
