Oh I wish I went...
Oooh! Please can I have a coaster? Or maybe you should do what we had to do in an english lesson yesterday, and whoever writes the best acrostic poem of Patrick gets a coaster.

That's the impression I got. He seemed so tired, but still managed to give a really good show, one of the best I've seen him do.

He mixed Bluebells with something, I can't remember what. Umm, yeah, I'd like to re-iterate Patrick's declarative of 'fuck you Ingrid.' Basically he left before he'd properly finished the set; it was supposed to end on The Magic Position, but like Graham mentioned to me, it was doubtful he would have been able to do that after what happened. Everyone along the front was drunk, everyone at the back was drunk - they had a little rabble and were shouting and laughing, and Patrick had to stop during The Libertine (I think) to tell them to be quiet or he'd finish right then and there. I have to say, because of the Augustine incident, the performance itself was riveting; he played that song with such passion and vitriol. The anger was rather painfully stretched across his face, and it was so intense to watch. That particular song performance was one of the best I've ever seen him do, I couldn't take my eyes off him. And then after that was done, he moved onto a new song called The Days, which was incredibly beautiful. And when he introduced that, his head was bowed and he was mumbling. And all the way through the song he looked very sad, it got a bit difficult to watch - he was pouring his heart out and we were all there either gawping at him or completely ignoring him to get more free alcohol. It made me feel uncomfortable to be in that crowd. And then he finished that and left. And it was over. It was wonderful, a lovely setting and a very beautifully thought out setlist. He played Paris; I have videos of that and Pigeon Song. - Ed Larrikin was there. - Bishi looked fit as. - I saw some of you and once again was too rubbish to say hello....Meryl, and, um, Jay? Was Sibz there? The girl with blonde hair and glasses, taking pictures at the side, looked a lot like her. - Thank you Graham. SARAH YOU MUPPET. I saw you and I was like "that must be Sarah" but then I was like "noo she'd talk to me" I FUCKING KNOW. I am so rubbish. I was all ready to say hello to you after Patrick had finished, but I couldn't see where you had gone. I have a couple of the coasters; there were three kinds, I only picked up two. I did however end up with some REM coasters which are going in my 'Really Awesome Things' box.

I can't believe I didn't pick up his setlist, I totally meant to, I was right next to it. Duuuuh. And er, OK Liz

I was going to steal it on my way out but a couple of people from Fujifilm were standing around near it and I had visions of SWAT teams kicking the door in.

I've really enjoyed reading the accounts of this gig, it pretty much sounds like a cross between Dylan's legendary "going electric" gigs and a particularly torrid episode of Hollyoaks.
Surreal.

I can say without knowing "them" that they were not being good friends by acting obnoxiously during his set.
Those coasters are nice, and easy to replicate.

They were being ridiculous. I wasn't with the main crowd, I was probably further away from them than anyone else really, and with my partial hearing they were still fucking irritating. I can't imagine how annoying they must have been to the people near them.

Awesome. I have videos of (parts of) Paris and Pigeon Song. I started filming The Stars, but someone stood in the way halfway through.
I would like to add, after Patrick had told various people to be quiet, they carried on heckling him. It was uncomfortable, to say the least.
He got a round of applause when he told the mooks at the back that he had better things to do than interrupt private cocktail parties.

I have some spare coasters if anyone wants to claim them I would love one, if it won't be too much trouble to send it in the post or whatever, and if you have any left. I seem to have completely missed this thread growing pages.

Oh yeah! You could just give it to me then I guess. As if meeting everyone won't be surreal enough anyway: hi, here is your coaster.

even just watching a video posted here earlier of patrick's cover of river, i got annoyed with the constant talking and they only shut(i want to say shutted?) up for a few seconds when patrick did a hugely impressive really loud bit and then as soon as he was quiet/silent and it was just his beautiful piano playing, the chatter picked up straight away again as if they couldn't be bothered to listen for more than 5 seconds it's just saddening to hear that sighh

Wonderful, thank you. Christ, the beginning of that makes me remember just how fucking LOUD they were. Horrible. It's heart-wrenching to watch, directly after the Ingrid bit. Seems like Victoria tried to cover it up and give him a bit of time by playing in the gap. She's ace. They have amazing chemistry when playing together.
