Yeah, call me saccharine and twee and whatever, but I think there needs to be an antithetical counterpart to the Be Judgemental thread, otherwise there'll just be bile and hatred everywhere and that's a bitch to get out of the carpet (yeah I know it's more fun, but think about the bad karma... not that sort of karma... which might potentially bite you on the bum if all you do is hate, you know, cancel it out with some compliments). So think of someone and think of something nice to say about them, I would suggest following the rules of the Be Judgemental thread but the words "fishing", "for" and "compliments" spring to mind, whereas actually I'm just being a bit of a hippy.
GO! spread some joy.

A woman goes into the bar and sits down and orders a drink. Other than the bartender, there's no one else around. All of a sudden she hears a voice that says, "Oooh, nice shoes." She looks around and doesn't see anyone and the bartender looks busy washing some glasses. A little while later the same voice says, "Oh blimey, I do like your hat!" The woman looks around again and doesn't see anyone. She finally asks the bartender if he just said something.
"No," replied the bartender, "it wasn't me. It was probably the peanuts though. They're complimentary."
I'd like to compliment the kids organising the meet up as they're doing a bloody good job of it and sanssouci, for identifying with my pain of bile+carpet= : (
Also for being captain ace.

Lawrence, that was altogether too kind of you... But it made me smile.
In addition: I would really like to compliment Clare for being such an open-minded, accepting person, and also for being an amazing photographer.

oh ace I'm glad you have all picked up on this I would like to compliment your clearly exceptional taste in threads and thank you for my compliments. I would like to compliment everyone in the Be Judgemental thread for having the balls to say what they really think even if it's not nice, especially Josh and Rebekah. and I'd like to compliment everyone I met at the secret birthday acoustic pub garden gig for helping to confirm that it's a good idea to go to gigs on your own. and I'd like to compliment my abuse of red hair dye for turning my bath and all of my towels orange nearly a week later - that's persistence.

See now, I like this thread. Not to say that everything should always be sunshine and rainbows, but having a thread solely to learn how much everyone else hates you? Not always a good idea.. I'd like to compliment EVERYONE, because honestly, I do not dislike any of you. And I really enjoy this place for the most part, and that wouldn't be possible without the wonderful people here. This sounds really sappy, so I'm just going to go with complementing this 30 degree angle.. Also, snaps to everyone for being a real sport yesterday.

I love Rebekah, for many reasons. First, her name is rebekah. Second, she has the best posts. Third, um, I just think I need a third. OH. she's probably the only person who knows what my avatar is.

Is it those G.I. Joe cartoons? No, it's from oregon trail. the newer one, it's the obnoxious scene with the kids trying to get to california or something.

I loved the old one, where you die of dysentery every time. I really want to play it, but it's infested with viruses. It always amuses me when it says "you are surrounded by mosquitos, do you want to continue on or sit and wait it out?" also, bear mauling = life. as for being on topic = i absolutely love your hair and your photography.

I miss Oregon Trail. I want to play it again... Do they have versions that work on new computers? Like, the old version. Not some crap new one.

I think I'm just going to make an oregon trail thread...yes, they do. but it's not like the old bad graphics one, if that's what you mean. the "new" one, is actually about 8 years old.
